While victory in class in the Pirelli Trophy went to Lamborghini driver Rolf Ineichen, who finished third overall along with Franck Perera, second in class was enough to enable Barth to secure the title in the competition for amateur drivers even before the season has ended. "We've just missed winning the title in recent years," said Barth. "I was second, sometimes third, but now we've finally made it. And that makes me happy, because it was real hard work, and the other drivers are no slouches, so I'm proud to have won the title."
Ineichen too was satisfied with his result, however: "I think we did a good job all weekend. The car was not exactly easy. Nevertheless, we tried to get the maximum out of it. We had some problems during the pit stop, because the car wouldn't restart. We lost a few seconds through that and dropped back to third place, but I'm happy with the result."
Victory in the Pirelli Junior stakes went to Audi driver, Ricardo Feller, this time. Dries Vanthoor took the wheel for the start and was in third place overall during his stint and then Feller passed Ineichen's Lamborghini in the pits to take second place. Feller subsequently maintained his position to the finish line, and so, took over first place in the classification for junior drivers from Montaplast by Land Motorsport team-mate, Max Hofer.
"Of course, I want to win the Pirelli Junior class," said Feller. "Naturally, it's a bit different when you're up against your team-mate, but still, we're all competitors out on track, and Max is doing a fantastic job as well. The race was actually quite boring for me. I came out on track and had a big gap to front and rear. I think it was the perfect strategy."
Aidan Read and Marvin Dienst were second-best Juniors on Sunday in the Mercedes-AMG prepared by Schütz Motorsport. Third place went to Mick Wishofer in the Mercedes-AMG fielded by Zakspeed BKK Mobil Oil Racing.
