Towards the middle of the race, the Italian took over the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 from Marco Mapelli, who drove during the opening stint. He improved his position by two places to finish his stint in P7 overall. Beretta dropped back one place for a time and was then involved in a close battle for seventh place, which he narrowly won in the end. Led by Beretta, the winner of the Pirelli Junior class, four vehicles were covered by just 1.5 seconds at the finish. Among his pursuers were Max Hofer, championship leader and second-placed Junior driver in the race, as well as Jeffrey Schmidt in another Audi, who was the third-best Junior.

"That was not an easy race," said Beretta, "because our car was not as fast as that of our team-mates. Unfortunately, I lost two positions due to minor errors. The Corvette was all over me towards the end, but I managed to stay ahead."

Victory in the Pirelli Trophy classification also went to an Orange1 by GRT Grasser Racing driver. However, Rolf Ineichen not only triumphed in the classification for amateur drivers but also achieved victory overall along with pole-sitter Franck Perera. This was Ineichen’s fourth overall win in the ADAC GT Masters: "To an outsider, I think that it probably looked as if it was very controlled and easy, but that certainly wasn’t the case for me. It was very tricky. I pulled out of the box and hit the wet verge on the outside of Turn 1, which caused quite a big skid. All I tried to do after that was complete the race safely. Franck did a mega job. He put the car on pole this morning with a great lap. That laid the groundwork for our victory. I’m very happy with the result. It’s a huge success for Orange1 by GRT Grasser."

Despite a drive-through penalty, second place in the Pirelli Trophy went to championship leader Sven Barth in the Corvette. Audi driver Remo Lips was third.
