The 24-year-old Italian, who drives for Team Orange1 at GRT Grasser, had already laid the basis for success in qualifying with third place overall. He stayed in that position until the driver handover, after which his partner, Marco Mapelli, brought the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo home to finish third overall with a deficit of just 1.8 seconds on race winners, team-mates Mirko Bortolotti and Christian Engelhart. This was Beretta’s first win in the Pirelli Junior classification.
"We’re pleased with the result and I think we deserve this podium," said Beretta. "Marco did a great job during his stint. I knew how hard it would be with the tyres in the end."
Audi driver, Mike David Ortmann from BWT Mücke Motorsport, took second place in the Junior class and fourth place overall. He and partner Markus Winkelhock had started out from 14th on the grid but went on a strong charge. Max Hofer from Montaplast by Land-Motorsport in another Audi was the third-best Junior driver.
Orange1 by GRT Grasser also secured the win in the Pirelli Trophy classification. Rolf Ineichen and his partner Franck Perera finished ninth overall. This was Ineichen’s second victory of the season in this classification and his 29th overall. However, the front-runner in the Trophy stakes, Sven Barth, who had been the best-placed Trophy driver for quite a time, had to settle for second place ultimately following a spin late in the race.
"This is a great result for our outfit," said Ineichen. "Congratulations to the whole team. Our car was superb, and it was only towards the end that the tyres began to degrade a little. Unfortunately, we made our pit stop at the wrong time and lost a couple of places as a result, but still, we got the Trophy win thanks to the mistake by the Corvette."
