BMW driver Sylvest is best Junior again: Rolf Ineichen wins Pirelli Trophy class by small margin

Sylvest and team-mate Jens Klingmann secured a good position on the grid earlier in qualifying, bringing their BMW M6 GT3 prepared by MRS GT-Racing home in fifth place. Klingmann took the first stint and lost a position initially but brought the BMW into the pits for its mandatory stop lying in fifth place. In the closing stages, 21-year-old Sylvest benefited when a fellow competitor was handed a penalty. Sylvest came home in fourth place and was best Junior. He also won the Junior class on Saturday.

"We had an excellent qualifying. Jens secured fifth place for us, which was a decent grid slot for the race. We finally took the chequered flag in fourth place, which makes us mega happy," said Sylvest. "We got everything out of the car. We were very effective in the race and on the pit stop. I’m really happy to be a part of MRS GT Racing with the BMW M6 GT3. It’s a great combination."

Second and third place in the Pirelli Junior classification went to the same drivers from the previous day. Max Hofer in the Audi R8 LMS from Montaplast by Land-Motorsport finished second, followed by fellow Audi driver, Jeffrey Schmidt, for BWT Mücke Motorsport.

Less than a second decided the battle for victory in the Pirelli Trophy classification. In the end, Lamborghini driver Rolf Ineichen from Team Orange1 by GRT Grasser won through against Sven Barth in RWT’s Corvette. Barth and team-mate David Jahn, who took the opening stint, were heading for the podium in the overall standings for quite some time but had to serve a drive-through penalty shortly before the finish for exceeding track limits several times and dropped back behind Ineichen and his team-mate Franck Perera as a result. Barth then put the Swiss driver under pressure, but was unable to pass.

Ineichen: "We achieved the maximum possible. I think we only got such a good result because there were so many penalties and we benefited. We tried to have an error-free race and not get any penalties, hoping that luck favours the brave."

Third place in the amateur class went to Audi driver, Remo Lips.
