Qualifying for the second race took place on a wet track after rain fell during the morning at Oschersleben. Lamborghini works driver Bortolotti showed his mastery of such conditions in the half-hour session, securing his third pole position in the Super Sports Car League with a time of 1:37.075 minutes. "It was very difficult," said Bortolotti, who is sharing the car with Christian Engelhart this year. "Grip levels are generally very low at Oschersleben, especially in the wet. Keeping the car on track was not easy, but I posted a good lap. In the end, yellow flags and traffic prevented any improvement in time. I'm very satisfied. The weekend has been a nightmare up until now. We spun in practice and were in sixth place yesterday when we were forced to retire with a technical problem. Pole position is just the ticket. I'm really looking forward to the race now."
Second place went to the Porsche 911 GT3 R of Matteo Cairoli and Adrien de Leener from KÜS Team75 Bernhard, who missed best time by 0.214 seconds. They were followed home by Thomas Preining and last year's champion, Robert Renauer, from Precote Herberth Motorsport in another 911. Dries Vanthoor and Ricardo Feller (both Montaplast by Land-Motorsport) in the best-placed Audi R8 LMS took P4 from Klaus Bachler and Timo Bernhard in the second Porsche fielded by KÜS Team75 Bernhard.
