Challenging weekend for Team ISR: Czech team scores points at Nürburgring

The team led by Igor Salaquarda reached the iconic German track resolute to build on the experience acquired on this circuit and be a protagonist with the #33 Audi R8 LMS driven by Filip Salaquarda and Frank Stippler.

Team ISR's drivers demonstrated the potential to aim to the top ten during free practice and lapped constantly close to the quickest. In Q1, Salaquarda struggled to get the same confidence but posted a 1m 27.647s that was the fifteenth quickest time. Q2 has been quite complex with the track mostly wet and under a strong rain shower. Stippler was the 23rd fastest in 1m 40.008s.

Race one was run on the dry and Team ISR completed a good performance. Salaquarda managed to avoid the contacts early on and a great pit strategy allowed the drivers to recover a position during the pit stop. Stippler made up some further ground in the second stint and ended the race very close to the top ten claiming the eleventh position.

The intense racing challenge in the mid of the pack during race two slowed Team ISR’s pairing down as the car was partially involved in the incident on lap one. Stippler was forced wide on the grass and a contact blocked the door of the Audi R8 LMS #33. This affected also the pit stop and the mechanics had to help Salaquarda to complete the driver change. The pairing ended therefore in 22nd position.

Team Principal Igor Salaquarda explained: “We are certainly a bit disappointed on how the weekend panned out: on Friday we were very fast confirming the pace shown in the previous rounds and we were quite confident to complete a strong performance. Unfortunately, races turned out to be trickier than expected, the rain that fell in Q2 did not help either and the unexpected events of race two certainly slowed us down. This was a shame considering the great results we obtained here last year, but we will quickly turn the page and start preparing the final part of the season soon.”
