Comments after Saturday's race at the Sachsenring: Observations from the drivers' paddock at the historic circuit in Saxony

Indy Dontje (Mann-Filter Team HTP, Mercedes-AMG GT3), P1 overall: "We've done it at last. It's been a really great day today: pole position, a good race and the fastest lap - what more could anyone want? Our start was not at all easy. I got a bit of a nudge, but in the end everything was fine. I was able to pull out something of a gap which I then proceeded to build on. We were also quite lucky with the pit stop, as we emerged onto an open track. That's especially good here, because the Sachsenring is a narrow and technically challenging circuit. Everything went perfectly, and having the right strategy also helped, of course."

Maximilian Götz (Mann-Filter Team HTP, Mercedes-AMG GT3), P1 overall: "Indy laid the ground work really well with the pole position, which is always very important here at the Sachsenring. At the pit stop, we played it safe, as we didn't want to take any risks. I then went out for my stint in the lead and just tried to enjoy the race, as I was unable to see any major threat in my rear-view mirror. I had a lot of fun during the race and even managed to extend the lead. Ultimately, it was a controlled race, and I think we managed to avoid any mistakes. That's the sort of thing we aim to do. Together with the rest of the team, we now intend to savour this win."

Max Hofer (Montaplast by Land-Motorsport, Audi R8 LMS), P2 overall and winner in the Pirelli Junior classification: "Hockenheim was a setback, but today we've been able to turn around the bad luck that we had there. The extremely good stint put in by Christopher [Mies] took us from sixth on the grid to second place and ultimately also to a win in the Pirelli Junior classification. I'm feeling sorry for Ricardo [Feller] because he was really unlucky today and dropped some vital points. But that's motor racing - today was our day!"

Christopher Mies (Montaplast by Land-Motorsport, Audi R8 LMS), P2 overall: "On recent weekends, we've been working towards getting our car to perform well in the second half of the race. Conversely, this means that the first stint is always going to be a bit more problematic for us. Overtaking is difficult at the Sachsenring, so we could reasonably expect to get through the first half of the race OK. Max did that superbly well. We knew we would be strong later in the race, and we then worked our way up to second place. After the two races at Hockenheim, this is obviously a great outcome for the whole team, and the result is also useful in terms of the Pirelli Junior championship. I cannot praise Max too highly - he is doing a really great job in the ADAC GT Masters and is a first class racing driver."

Mick Wishofer (Zakspeed BKK Mobil Oil Racing, Mercedes-AMG GT3), P3 overall and P2 in the Pirelli Junior class: "I would never have thought that today would go quite this well. I was able to match the front-runners for pace right from the start and pitted in P2. Kelvin then clinched the podium spot for us. Things were difficult at the beginning of the season, but we eventually got going. It obviously cheers the team up to at last get back on the podium. Everyone has worked very hard throughout the year, so I am feeling really happy now."

Kelvin Snoeks (Zakspeed BKK Mobil Oil Racing, Mercedes-AMG GT3) P3 overall: "We found the first race at Hockenheim difficult, but we then did a lot better on Sunday. Fortunately, we have carried on here from where we left off last time. Mick [Wishofer] got off to a great start and put in an excellent first stint. That enabled me to finish the race in a good position. The podium was our objective, so I didn't want to take any unnecessary risks. Mick did a great job today. For me, it was all about staying on course for the podium, and in that regard we succeeded."

Sven Barth (RWT Racing, Corvette C7 GT3-R), P7 overall and Pirelli Trophy winner: "David did a mega job in qualifying. We had a mix of weather this morning, and we did better than expected. We managed to qualify fourth thanks to the conditions. David did a really great job. Of course, we had a lot of bad luck at the start. I think Dennis Marschall had a minor contact and sent us off into the gravel. That was certainly not his intention. It was all a bit too tight, and one of the drivers was probably a bit too optimistic on the brakes. After that, we thought it was all over, but our car was really good in the race. David was able to gain a lot of places. I also managed to move up a few positions after the driver handover. As a result, we booked seventh place, which was definitely just amazing. That was a mega race for us, absolutely brilliant!"

Mike David Ortmann (BWT Mücke Motorsport, Audi R8 LMS), P6 overall and P3 in the Pirelli Junior classification: "The start went really well. I made a move to go through on the inside, which worked out just fine. After that, we were in fifth place for the rest of the stint and fourth after the driver handover thanks to a few penalties and mistakes by our opponents. We had some problems with the car later, which we'll have to analyse in detail to see what went wrong. We finished sixth, and I came third in the Pirelli Junior class. That's quite nice, but ultimately, it's obviously very frustrating to think that we lost the chance of being up there the overall podium. We just hope now that we can get it all together again tomorrow."

Timo Bernhard (Küs Team75 Bernhard, Porsche 911 GT3 R), P16 overall: "Zero points! That was obviously not the result we wanted. We certainly had it tough in qualifying earlier. I had to take evasive action and lost time on my hot lap. I actually got a good start to the race, but then suddenly, everyone in front of me braked. I wanted to avoid a collision but was handed a five-second penalty, which I don't really understand. We're looking forward to tomorrow. We're in good spirits still."

Adrien de Leener (Küs Team75 Bernhard, Porsche 911 GT3 R), P20 overall: "What a tough race! We knew we'd have to start from the back, so we just bolted on used tyres from our qualifying lap. The strategy for the weekend was to focus on Sunday's race. The car is in one piece, so we're hoping for a good result in tomorrow's final race of the season."
