Comments from the paddock: Observations about Friday at Red Bull Ring

Kelvin van der Linde (HCB-Rutronik Racing, Audi R8 LMS): "Of course, it's nice to see at this early stage on Friday that things are going reasonably well, but I don't think that the other teams have shown all their cards yet. I can't wait to see how we do tomorrow. I think that the new Audi R8 LMS suits the track better. The car is excellent, especially in the fast turns, but we won't know where we actually stand until tomorrow."

David Jahn (RWT Racing, Corvette C7 GT3-R): "We were able to make quite good progress and improve during the day. We discovered something new to do with set-up, which gained us time, especially in the corners on the second sector. We're well pleased, because it's made the car even more driveable and we hope this improvement continues tomorrow so that we can finish among the Top Five and secure a good haul of points."

Franck Perera (Orange1 by GRT Grasser, Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo): "That was a good day. We were able to try out a few things to prepare for the weekend. Things will be a bit difficult here due to the Lamborghini's top speed, but we'll have to see how qualifying goes tomorrow and do our best."

Sebastian Asch (HB Racing, Ferrari 488 GT3): "I think we can be very satisfied with FP2. We don't quite know who actually drove on new tyres. We'll find out tomorrow in qualifying when everyone goes for it - then we'll see where we really stand. But basically, I think we're on the right track and found a good set-up for today's qualifying."

Max Hofer (Montaplast by Land-Motorsport, Audi R8 LMS): "On the whole, it's never easy to tell where you really stand on Friday. I think we can expect big things from this weekend. Today was difficult and I've still got a bit of work to do. My teammate Christopher Mies is super fast. That could definitely augur well for Sunday. For me, it's simply a question of focusing on tomorrow and doing a good job. This isn't an Audi track, but surprisingly, we're on the pace."

Mick Wishofer (Team Zakspeed BKK Mobil Oil Racing, Mercedes-AMG GT3): "It's gone really well so far. It's only Friday, so it's hard to tell where you stand. Tomorrow's quali is what counts, and hopefully, things will look as good as they did today. I think we've got a good chance. It's not so easy at the Red Bull Ring in the Mercedes-AMG, but I think a decent result is possible."
