After a successful season in the Blancpain GT Series Asia with three wins, four podium finishes and third place overall in the drivers' championship, Patric Niederhauser will share the drive in an Audi R8 LMS with Kelvin van der Linde, the ADAC GT Masters Champion from 2014 as they contest the 2019 ADAC GT Masters. The ADAC GT Masters season will kick off on April 26th in Oschersleben. Drivers and teams will contest 14 points scoring races during seven meetings in all.
Niederhauser's career started in karting in 2009 and led him into the international GP3 series via Formula Abarth where he became champion in 2011. He secured several victories in GP3 which was a support series to the Formula 1 world championship and at the same time, got a taste of endurance racing in an LMP2 prototype in the 24-hour classic at Le Mans. He switched to GT cars in 2015, lining up in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo. He was promoted to the status of an official GT3 Junior with the Italian sports car manufacturer thanks to his good showing. This was followed by race outings in the Blancpain GT series, in the ADAC GT Masters and in the 2018 Blancpain GT Series Asia where he fought for the championship up until the very end.
Patric Niederhauser, speaking about his return to the ADAC GT Masters: "I had a great time in Asia and was quite successful, but all the while, I had remained in regular contact with HCB-Rutronik Racing. They are new to the ADAC GT Masters, but I know some of the crew from the past, including my team-mate Kelvin van der Linde. I'm happy to be back and to be going into the new season with such a strong and ambitious outfit. We've set our personal targets very high. The whole package looks very promising. The make-up of the team is first-class, and in the Audi R8 LMS, we have a fantastic car which should make us highly competitive in every race."
Team Principal Fabian Plentz expects a lot from his latest signing: "We see Patric as a real asset and look forward to working with him. With his talent and experience, he will take the team's development to the next stage along with Kelvin van der Linde as his team-mate."
