Q1 was exciting from start to finish. Drivers beat their personal best times over and over again as the session gradually came to a close on a drying track. Dontje ultimately won through with a 1:20.691 minutes. For the Dutchman, who shares the vehicle of Mann-Filter Team HTP with Maximilian Götz, this was his maiden pole position in the ADAC GT Masters.
"The result is really good for us," said Dontje, "because we still need points in the overall standings. Qualifying was tricky with the track drying, but we solved that problem brilliantly. To start from the pole position at the Sachsenring is really great for the whole team. We were fast in both the wet and the dry yesterday, and we have shown that again this morning. To win is obviously our aim now later in the race."
21-year-old Dennis Marschall in second place showed a repeat of his recent strong showing in qualifying with a deficit of only 0.024 seconds in the Audi R8 LMS prepared by HCB-Rutronik Racing which he shares with team-mate Carrie Schreiner. He will be starting out from the front row for the third consecutive time. Marvin Dienst and Aidan Read in the Mercedes AMG fielded by Schütz Motorsport took P3 from David Jahn and Sven Barth in the RWT Corvette C7 GT3-R. Jimmy Eriksson and Daniel Keilwitz from Zakspeed BKK Mobil Oil Racing qualified fifth in the third Mercedes-AMG to finish in the Top Five.
