Marschall and Schreiner - Saturday's best Juniors: Audi drivers finish third overall

Qualifying earlier today went really well for HCB-Rutronik Racing's driver pairing. Marschall took his maiden pole position in the ADAC GT Masters and thus ensured the best position on the grid for the first race of the weekend. In the race too, Marschall was in P1 for quite a time until his progress was impeded just before his pit stop by a car he needed to lap. Lamborghini driver Mirko Bortolotti used the situation to pass the Audi. Marschall's partner Schreiner took over the vehicle a short time later but was forced to relinquish two positions at the beginning of her stint. Subsequently, however, she maintained fourth place to the chequered flag. Marschall and Schreiner moved up into third in the overall standings, as team-mates in P2, Patric Niederhauser and Kelvin van der Linde, were given a 30-second penalty after the race. P3 also brought them their first win in the Pirelli Junior classification.

"First of all, it's a weird feeling because our team-mates were handed a penalty and we more or less inherited third place. But no matter whether it's a P3 or a P4, we are really thrilled about the result. My day was awesome: fastest lap, pole position, and we also led the field. Unfortunately, I then lost a place. The role played by the BMW was not OK, in my opinion. If you're running 25th, you shouldn't interfere in the race. But in the end, I'm happy for Carrie that it all worked out so well on her birthday. That was a mega achievement by her. At times, she was only a few tenths slower than the pros." Partner Carrie Schreiner was also highly delighted: "Incredible, I could jump for joy! Dennis did a mega job, so I'm pleased that I was able to give him something back in return. I was able to hold my position towards the end and am just ecstatic about the result. I was able to lap the circuit feeling relatively relaxed. I feel good at Hockenheim - it's like home to me. I'm just so pleased that I managed to keep the Mercedes-AMG behind me."

Another Audi driver, Ricardo Feller (Montaplast by Land-Motorsport) from Switzerland was second-best Junior. His team-mate, Max Hofer, leads the Pirelli Junior classification but finished out of the points following a crash on Lap 1. That enabled Feller to reduce his deficit to three points. Third place in the young driver stakes also went to an R8 LMS driver on Saturday. In addition, Maximilian Paul and William Tregurtha (T3 Motorsport) in P8 overall clinched their first top ten result in the ADAC GT Masters.

In the Pirelli Trophy classification, Corvette driver Sven Barth (RWT Racing) took his sixth victory despite a drive-through penalty and is well on course to win the classification for amateur drivers. Nevertheless, he was not completely satisfied: "I don't really see why I got the penalty. I don't think it was an unsafe release, because I let the other car pass, but so be it! I won the Pirelli Trophy once more, which definitely has to be a positive. David did a great job during his stint and handed the car over to me in sixth place overall. But for the penalty, I would probably still have had a decent chance of moving up a place. That would certainly have been an excellent result in our home fixture."
