Callaway driver Marvin Kirchhöfer, who secured pole at the same venue a year ago, went out and did it again in the closing minutes of the session. With his best time of 1:28.374 minutes, Kirchhöfer was 0.031 seconds quicker than fellow Corvette driver, David Jahn, who lines up for RWT Racing. "Wow, what a great lap!" said last year's winner at the Red Bull Ring, Kirchhöfer, who shares the drive with Markus Pommer. "That was one of my best laps ever in the ADAC GT Masters. I'm mega happy to have gone out and done it. Things went so well yesterday that I can't wait to see what might be possible in today's race."

However, David Jahn, who partners Sven Barth, was not completely satisfied with second place: "Of course, second place is great, but perhaps there was scope to do more. I lost some of my rhythm initially, as I closed the gap to a car in front of me faster than expected. That put me off my stride a bit. Also, I was on fresh tyres in qualifying for the first time this weekend, and consequently, wasn't quite able to find where the tyres peak. I then did a reset and attacked again, but by that time, the tyres were just out of the optimal window."

Maximilian Götz and Markus Pommer in third place were the fastest Mercedes-AMG drivers with a lap time of 1:28.504 minutes. Local driver Thomas Preining secured fourth position along with team-mate, Robert Renauer, in the Porsche 911 GT3 R prepared by Precote Herberth Motorsport. Saturday's winners, Jens Klingmann and Nicolai Sylvest in the BMW M6 GT3 from MRS GT-Racing completed the Top Five, finishing ahead of the Ferrari fielded by Austrian outfit, HB Racing, and driven by former champions, Luca Ludwig and Sebastian Asch.
