Preining quickest in FP2: Best time on day for Christopher Mies

Driving the 911 GT3 R prepared by Precote Herberth Motorsport, Preining clocked a time of 1:39.749 minutes and was just under 0.7 seconds slower than Audi driver Christopher Mies (Montaplast by Land-Motorsport) had been in FP1 earlier in the day.

"The second session was really good," said Preining, who partners defending champion Robert Renauer. "This was the first time that we were able to properly race after having technical problems in FP1. I think we're well placed with the car, even if there's room for improvement. But basically, we're heading where we want to be, on the right road at least."

Mies was also pleased: "That was a good first day. Obviously, we set the hot time on fresh tyres, but some of the other teams tried fresh rubber while others wanted to have a go in the second session but were stopped by the red flags. Still, it's nice to have set best time of the day. The car is running well. Practice has demonstrated once again that it will be extremely close tomorrow and on Sunday. We're talking thousandths of a second, for sure! It's going to be really exciting."

P2 in the second session went to the Lamborghini pairing of Mirko Bortolotti and Christian Engelhart from Orange1 by GRT Grasser, who were 0.317 seconds slower than Preining. Fabian Vettel and Philip Ellis in the fastest Mercedes-AMG GT3 came home in third place with a deficit of a further 40 thousandths of a second. Michele Beretta and Marco Mapelli in another Grasser Lamborghini secured fourth position. Jimmy Eriksson and his new team-mate, Daniel Keilwitz, completed the Top Five in a Mercedes-AMG from Zakspeed BKK Mobile Oil Racing team.
