ADAC GT Masters·5.5.2019

Propeak: Analysis and further testing: Series newcomers to spend next week preparing for Most

Propeak Performance had set themselves the target of points-scoring finishes for their new Aston Martin Vantage GT3s against the strong competition that was to be expected in the season opener at Oschersleben. Record ADAC GT Masters race winner Daniel Keilwitz and Aston Martin works driver Maxime Martin did precisely that in both races, with a P10 on Saturday and a P14 on Sunday. However, the results for the number 99 Aston Martin were subsequently struck out, in the first instance because of a non-activated fire extinguisher and in the second because the boost pressure peaks of the four-litre V8 twin turbo engine exceeded tolerances. Hugo de Sadeleer and Valentin Hasse-Clot also forfeited their 19th place on Sunday for the same reason, having finished only 26th in the first race after an off-track excursion at the onset of rain and sustaining a puncture.

Team Principal Christoph Esser: "Despite all four drivers showing good pace at times, we come away from the first weekend of the 2019 ADAC GT Masters without anything to show for it. This is bitter and sobering, but it is no reason for us to feel despondent. On the contrary: we immediately sat down together to carry out a detailed analysis and to come up with constructive suggestions. The engineers at Aston Martin Racing are working with the DMSB technicians to solve the unexplained boost pressure deviations. And in all other areas, we will work as a team to make optimum use of the experiences we've gained and to bring about improvements in all departments ready for our next outing at Most."

Contributing to the preparations for the second race weekend in the Czech city of Most (17th - 19th May) will be further testing. Propeak Performance will spend 8th and 9th May working on the setup of the Vantage GT3 on the 4,212-metre racetrack located 100 kilometres north-west of Prague. The test drivers will be Valentin Hasse-Clot and Hugo de Sadeleer.
