The team from Wiesemscheid at the Nürburgring will race as an official partner of Aston Martin Racing (AMR) and enjoy works support for the first time while also making their debut in the Super Sports Car League as they go up against top-class, professional competition in what is considered to be one of the world's strongest race series for GT3 sports cars.
The outfit has undergone some restructuring in order to face this major challenge. The two Aston Martin Vantage GT3s competing in the ADAC GT Masters and the two Vantage GT4s contesting the ADAC GT4 Germany and the European GT4 series will line up under the new team name of PROpeak Performance. All other race outings, such as in the VLN Endurance Championship at the Nürburgring, for example, will continue to take place under the regular PROsport Performance team name.
On 6th November 2018, PROsport Performance was named as an official race partner of Aston Martin Racing (AMR). Christoph Esser's team enjoy the highest level of support from AMR and are one of only five outfits worldwide to do so and one of only three in Europe. AMR works driver, Maxime Martin, will compete mainly in the Endurance World Championship (WEC) but will line up for PROpeak Performance in the ADAC GT Masters with Daniel Keilwitz, the former champion and driver with the most wins.
"PROsport Performance have gone to the next level with this direct collaboration with a car manufacturer, beginning a new era in team history with race outings in the Aston Martin Vantage. As a result, we will, in future, separate our works-supported race commitments from all other activities," said Christoph Esser, CEO of PROsport Performance GmbH, adding: "In English, peak stands for top and maximum and that's precisely the ambitious goal that we have set ourselves. We intend to reach the top and achieve the maximum with Aston Martin."
The name PROsport has been inextricably linked with Christoph Esser since 1988. He founded PROsport Racing in 2006 and followed that by setting up PROsport Performance GmbH in 2010. In 2013, the team from the Nürburgring battled their way to their first international title with Porsche, winning the drivers' standings in the GT4 European Championship. Three years later, they achieved a double victory in the team and drivers' rankings, again with Porsche. In 2018, PROsport Performance triumphed with a Mercedes-AMG GT3 in the team and drivers' standings of the European 24-GT series and ultimately conquered the 'Championship of the Continents' in this GT3 race series. The outfit also took the title in the Rookie classification of the ADAC TCR Germany with an Audi RS 3 LMS TCR. In addition, PROsport Performance have achieved more than 50 victories in class in the 24 Hours of Nürburgring and in the VLN Nürburgring Endurance Championship, mainly with Porsche sports cars.
