Toksport WRT in ADAC GT Masters debut: Guest starts at Zandvoort and the Nürburgring as test run for 2020

ADAC GT Masters newcomers Toksport WRT are to field a Mercedes-AMG GT3 on the next two race weekends of the Super Sports Car League by way of a test run for the 2020 season. Sharing the cockpit of the GT3 car at Zandvoort and at the Nürburgring will be the pairing of Luca Stolz (24, GER) and Maro Engel (33, GER), both of whom bring copious experience of the ADAC GT Masters and the Mercedes-AMG.

"The ADAC GT Masters is one of the world's toughest GT championships," says team principal Emre Buyukbayrak. "For us as a German team, it therefore makes a lot of sense to be part of the line-up. We know how competitive this series is. We aim to gain as much experience as possible, because we plan to field two cars throughout the whole of the 2020 season. In Luca and Maro, we have a strong driver pairing and therefore hope to be in contention for top positions."

Luca Stolz competed in the ADAC GT Masters from 2014 to 2018, during which time he notched up one win and booked five pole positions. The 24-year-old from Brachbach is excited about his imminent return to the Super Sports Car League: "It's a great prospect to be contesting two race weekends in the ADAC GT Masters. We have two good drivers who have a lot of experience of the Mercedes-AMG and are therefore able to help the team. I've known Toksport WRT for some time, and they are a professional outfit."

Based at Quiddelbach in the Eifel region, Toksport WRT are involved in both motor racing and rally sport. One of the circuit series the team competes in is the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland which is contested on the same weekends as the ADAC GT Masters. In their rally sport activities, the team fields several ¦koda Fabia R5s. In this year's World Championship race in Chile, rising star Kalle Rovanperä won the WRC2 Pro classification, while Chris Ingram currently ranks third in the European Rally Championship. Toksport WRT are also part of the regular starting line-up in the German Rally Championship (DRM).
