This year, the Czech outfit joined the exciting German series for Grand Touring cars for the second time and has been busy with Filip Salaquarda and Frank Stippler at the wheel of the #33 Audi R8 LMS on the home circuit this weekend, resolute to build on the fifth place scored there last year.
As usual, gaps were small in Most and Filip Salaquarda posted a 1m 31.411s as best lap in Q1, that was the seventeenth time and just 0.2s off the top ten. Q2 has been exciting again on Sunday morning and Stippler's best lap was completed in 1m 31.267s, a time that earned him the 11th place.
Salaquarda based his strategy on recovering places in race one and managed to climb up through the pack thanks to a very effective performance. In the second part of the race a drive-through penalty handed by the stewards following a contact between Stippler and the #25 Audi R8 LMS driven by Christopher Haase slowed down Team ISR's racing pace and the pairing finished in 22nd position.
The desire to bounce back in race two came to an early stop when the contact between Audi #26 and #4 at turn one involved Team ISR's car which ended up with a puncture and the wheel arch damaged, which forced Stippler to a premature stop.
Team principal Igor Salaquarda said: "This has certainly not been the weekend we would have wanted. Our performance has been hit by two episodes that did not allow us to show our potential. We are disappointed for not converting fans' support into results. We had a good feeling and could have ended both races within the top ten. We are now going to focus on the next round hoping in a trouble-free weekend."
