Team Zakspeed BKK Mobil Oil Racing have given their team another major boost by bringing in some top-class back-up. Daniel Keilwitz will support the German team at both the Hockenheimring and Sachsenring for the last two race weekends in the Super Sports Car League. He will replace Jeroen Bleekemolen in the Mercedes-AMG GT3 with start number 21. It was always clear from the outset that Dutchman Bleekemolen would not be able to race for Zakspeed after the Nürburgring races since he has commitments in other racing series apart from the ADAC GT Masters. With Keilwitz, Zakspeed have signed one of the most experienced and successful drivers in the ADAC GT Masters. He has taken 22 wins from 132 starts, more than any other driver, and won the championship in 2013 along with Diego Alessi.
Keilwitz knows the Mercedes-AMG GT3 really well despite his many years at the wheel of Callaway Competition's Corvette, having already competed in Blancpain GT races with the vehicle from Affalterbach in the past. He lined up for Zakspeed in the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring in 2017.
"We're delighted to have Daniel Keilwitz back in the team," said Peter and Philipp Zakowski, the outfit's directors. "We knew from the start that Jeroen Bleekemolen would not be available to end the season with Zakspeed, so of course, we had to give some thought as to who should contest the last four races for us. It's terrific that we're now able to bring Daniel Keilwitz on board at such short notice, for sure! We hope that we can secure some decent results to finish the season."
