Zandvoort 2019: Comments from the paddock: Friday at Zandvoort from the drivers' perspective

Maximilian Götz (Mann-Filter Team HTP, Mercedes-AMG GT3):

"The car feels great. First place is a good sign for the rest of the weekend. The track suits the Mercedes AMG, and I'm having a lot of fun driving here. You have to get into the right rhythm to go really fast, and I've managed to do that. But, of course, this was only free practice. It only really counts in the race itself. It will be Indy's turn to drive in quali tomorrow. I think we might do OK. We want to close the points gap in the table and make it onto the podium twice. I'm still missing a trophy from Zandvoort in my cabinet."

Sven Barth (RWT Racing, Corvette C7 GT3-R):

"We're actually quite satisfied. We know it's not going to be easy for us here. But we're aiming to score vital points. We probably won't be right at the front, though. Today was very encouraging. In the rain, we were good, and in the Trophy class, I finished the day in P2. In the dry, things also went quite well, but we haven't used any new tyres yet. I think there is still scope for improvement."

Pierre Kaffer (EFP Car Collection by Tece, Audi R8 LMS):

"The day was actually quite good. Zandvoort is a very fine track. The weather conditions this morning were tricky. We had no problems in the two practice sessions, so I'm happy."

Kelvin Snoeks (Team Zakspeed BKK Mobil Oil Racing, Mercedes-AMG GT3):

"We let Mick do most of the driving today, as this is his first time at Zandvoort. In the first session, the car was understeering in the rain, but after we adjusted the setup, it was much better. In the dry, the car was quite good, even though we haven't yet managed to get the front tyres working properly. But with further minor adjustments, we should look good in qualifying. From there, the Top Ten should be possible."

Luca Stolz (Toksport WRT, Mercedes-AMG GT3):

"The first free practice day was great. The team is working really well as a unit. Maro and I are an established partnership, and we are now trying to pass our experience on to the team. The first session in the wet didn't tell us much, because we started off on slicks. We didn't focus on performance. We then went back out on a wet track and were relatively satisfied. The second free practice session was far more meaningful. We had new tyres because we are guest starters. So, third place is looking pretty good at the moment. We are relatively happy with the car. We now have to do some work on the details, after which I'll be looking forward to the quali."

Franck Perera (Orange1 by GRT Grasser, Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo):

"Today's weather conditions were tricky. The last time I raced at Zandvoort was in Formula 3 back in 2005, which is a long time ago. This is the first time I've driven a GT car here. I needed a few laps to get used to it, but we did a good job, and I think it's looking promising."

Indy Dontje (Mann-Filter Team HTP, Mercedes-AMG GT3):

"It's always good to be fastest. The car feels great. I'll be driving in tomorrow's qualifying. Let's see how it goes. I'm obviously hopeful of finishing in the Top Five."

Klaus Bachler (Küs Team75 Bernhard, Porsche 911 GT3 R):

"Today was quite good. We secured P1 in first practice and P2 in the second session. We hope we can maintain our pace tomorrow in qualifying and, hopefully, in the race as well."
