Audi ahead in second practice: Best time on the day for Pommer in Corvette

23-year-old Marschall, who shared an R8 LMS with Carrie Schreiner in last year’s championship-winning team, Rutronik Racing, achieved best time in the one-hour session with a 1.21.944. He was around 0.4 seconds slower than Corvette driver Markus Pommer had been in the opening session.

„It’s nice to finish the last practice session right at the front. We did a lot of driving together in the preseason test and also today to make sure we have the best possible package, and that has paid off. I am very happy with the way the day has gone, and especially with that last session. Tomorrow’s quali is, of course, a different matter, but the objective is a Top Five result. If that’s where we end up, I’ll be happy.“

Markus Pommer, who is sharing the drive in the Callaway Corvette with Jeffrey Schmidt in the Callaway Corvette for the first time, was also positive in his conclusions: „It was an optimal day. We have made further improvements to the car since the tests, and I am very satisfied. I hope that we are capable of reproducing that sort of lap time in qualifying. That’s when everyone will be showing what they really can do. Anyway, let’s see where we end up.“

Lamborghini works drivers Alber Costa Balboa and Franck Perera from GRT Grasser Racing were second fastest earlier this evening with a time of 1.22.047 minutes. Indy Dontje and Maximilian Götz from Mann-Filter-Team HTP-Winward in the best-placed Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo took third place from the Audi pairing of Ricardo Feller and Stefan Mücke (BWT Mücke Motorsport). Tim Zimmermann with Steijn Schothorst in another Grasser Lamborghini completed the Top Five in second practice. This time around, 22 vehicles were covered by one second.
