Saturday at the Red Bull Ring went almost perfectly for Skoog after taking the lead on the first lap, posting the fastest race lap and finishing just over eight seconds ahead at the line. The ADAC GT Masters newcomer qualified in second place on the front row for the first time. In the race, he took the lead on the first lap, which he then steadily increased. Partner Nick Yelloly went on to achieve a comfortable victory, finishing more than eight seconds in front.
"At the start, I went through the first corner side by side with Steijn (Schothorst)," said Skoog. "Despite a minor contact, I was able to keep up with him, and I then took the lead on the following straight. From that point on, we were able to drive our own race and - most importantly - to look after our tyres. Leading the field always makes the race so much easier, which meant that we were able to post consistently clean laps. As a team, we are absolutely delighted with the victory, and we will do our best to finish in a good position in tomorrow's race as well."
Also in a BMW, fellow Swedish driver Erik Johansson was second in the Pirelli Junior classification. The BMW Junior from MRS GT-Racing finished third in the overall standings together with Jens Klingmann. The German Tim Zimmermann was the third-best driver in the Pirelli Junior classification. His team-mate Steijn Schothorst had taken pole position in qualifying with the GRT Grasser Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo, but they had to settle for seventh overall in the race. However, Zimmermann still leads the Junior classification.
For the second time this season, victory in the Pirelli Trophy stakes went to the leader in the standings, Elia Erhart, in the Audi from EFP Car Collection by Tece. Erhart thus managed to extend his lead in this particular competition. For a long time, it looked like fellow Audi driver, the Czech from Team ISR Filip Salaquarda, would take the win in the amateur drivers' class but he came to a stop on the penultimate lap with a technical problem.
