Comments after Race 1 at the Lausitzring: Observations from the paddock after Saturday's race

Christopher Haase (Montaplast by Land Motorsport, Audi R8 LMS), P1: "Our race was good overall. Max laid the foundation in the first half hour with a great performance, and our strategy was also just right, especially regarding the safety car around the halfway point of the race. Towards the end, Maxi Götz was putting me under a lot of pressure. I had a hard time finding enough grip, especially in the last sector of the track. Fortunately, we were able to hang on to the first position anyway, which was by no means easy. But considering the tricky conditions, our Audi R8 LMS was really very good."

Max Hofer (Montaplast by Land Motorsport, Audi R8 LMS), P1: "The major challenge today was certainly the poor visibility, and there was also a lot of dirt on the track, which quickly got plastered on the windscreen. It was really difficult to see clearly and safely take it to the limit. In the end, I was able to finish the first half of the race solidly and had a thrilling battle with Steijn Schothorst. I brought the stint to a good end. Because of the difficult conditions, we had to be spontaneous today in terms of strategy. The grip got better over time, but the track dried up relatively slowly."

Indy Dontje (Mann-Filter Team HTP-Winward, Mercedes-AMG GT3), P2: "It's good to have finally got back on the podium again. We hadn't managed to do that so far this year. All in all, I got off to a good start and was able to match the pace of the leader over the course of the race. It was important not to take too much out of the tyres, so as to be in a good position for the second stint. The grip level of the track was OK in spite of the difficult conditions. The main thing today was to find a suitable racing line in conditions that were not completely wet."

Maxi Götz (Mann-Filter Team HTP-Winward, Mercedes-AMG GT3), P2: "After our pit stop, I was able to emerge on track with instant pace, which enabled me to get involved in some enjoyable and above all very fair duels with our opponents that culminated in some good overtaking moves. Unfortunately, the safety car deployment in the middle of the race turned out to be a bit long for us, so towards the end of the race, we didn't have quite enough time to work our way right to the front. But overall, the result is immensely important and absolutely deserved for the team."

Robert Renauer (Precote Herberth Motorsport, Porsche 911 GT3-R), P3: "We are obviously happy with the result and with the podium finish. After the quali, we might have expected to get a bit more out of the race, but ultimately we hadn't decided on the ideal set-up before the start, and the pit stop wasn't perfectly timed either. The important thing now is that we've been able to score decent championship points again. Naturally, we are not giving up, we will continue to give it everything we've got. The car ran very well today, which means we can feel optimistic about tomorrow's race."

Klaus Bachler (Precote Herberth Motorsport, Porsche 911 GT3-R), P3: "On the slow corners in particular, we were losing some time at the beginning of my stint, but in the end, we managed to score important points for the team. Having started from pole position, it would obviously have been nice to come away with a win, but even so, we are still very happy with the result. My start for Precote Herberth Motorsport this weekend was a last-minute decision, but I already know the team and we were able to work very well under these difficult conditions. Of course, it would be great if we could repeat the result tomorrow."

Jannes Fittje (Küs Team75 Bernhard, Porsche 911 GT3 R), P4 and winner in the Pirelli Junior classification: "I am very satisfied with this result. I have managed to close the gap in the Junior points classification. Now let's see what else we can do. My start was far from perfect. On the very first corner, I got hit on the rear wheel and was only just able to keep control of the car. I thought I was going into a spin, but fortunately things worked out OK. I was able to continue but had lost a few positions. After that, I was able to maintain a steady pace - the speed was definitely there. I just tried to stay on the track, because it was exceptionally dirty and slippery, and the visibility was therefore not optimal. It was the right thing to do, because two of the cars ahead of me skidded off and I was able to hand over to David in sixth place."

David Jahn (Küs Team75 Bernhard, Porsche 911 GT3 R), P4: "The race was OK. Jannes did well. He was very cautious at the start, wanting to ensure that nothing went wrong in the poor conditions. Despite that, he was squeezed out, dropped back to eighth and then came into the pits in P6. I felt very comfortable in the Porsche right from the start and was able to set very fast times. Unfortunately, the safety car then came out, which slowed me down, and the rear tyres also cooled down a bit too much. I was able to match the pace of those in front quite well once the safety car period had ended and could even have gone a little faster, but overtaking in such dreadful conditions is very difficult. Also, the windscreen was extremely dirty. I could hardly see out of it, especially as it was gradually getting dark. It was then all about simply achieving a good finish. Two of the opposing teams were handed time penalties, so we finished fourth, which was great - we also came fourth here in the season opener. We're aiming to start as far up front as we can again tomorrow."

Elia Erhart (EFP Car Collection by Tece, Audi R8 LMS), winner of Pirelli Trophy classification: "We started out on slicks, which went very well initially, but then rain started to fall again towards the far end of the circuit. As a result, unfortunately, our tactics didn't work out. We then switched to full wets when we pitted. I am delighted to have won the title before the season has even ended. We are a small independent team, so the prize is extremely important to us. We are very grateful, because winning the tyres will help us a lot."
