Mick Wishofer (Team Zakspeed BKK Mobil Oil Racing, Mercedes-AMG GT3), P1, winner in the Pirelli Junior classification: "The team did a really mega job today. Dorian [Boccolacci] got off to a great start, and it was then up to me to bring the race to a good conclusion in the second half. From the position I was in, I was able to overtake the Porsche relatively quickly and then control the race quite well. We were fast yesterday, and the car was very good, but today we really upped our game. Oschersleben will certainly be another challenge for the Mercedes-AMG, but we will obviously be giving our best again."
Dorian Boccolacci (Team Zakspeed BKK Mobil Oil Racing, Mercedes-AMG GT3), P1: "The first few laps of the race were really great! Fortunately, I made the right decisions and found the right gaps for my overtaking moves. After that, it was important to get into a good rhythm. I'm really proud of the team, because our car has been exceptionally good throughout the whole race weekend, so we didn't have to make too many adjustments for today's race. Mick [Wishofer] and I do everything in harmony. The key to success today in these difficult conditions was finding the limit but not overstepping it."
Robert Renauer (Precote Herberth Motorsport, Porsche 911 GT3 R), P2: "I think we really got the maximum out of the weekend with our two podium finishes. We had a very strong car and can congratulate ourselves on an equally strong team result. It was good today, of course, that the number 7 sister car had our back – that gave us additional confidence. Also, the conditions today were not easy, especially at the start when it was still very slippery. Now we have to deliver the best possible results at Oschersleben if we are to win the championship there, but with the current level of performance we can go into the finale with optimism."
Klaus Bachler (Precote Herberth Motorsport, Porsche 911 GT3 R), P2: "I had a good start, but then, with three or four cars running side by side, it got a bit tight out there on the track. All in all, it was not an easy race; we had to battle for position throughout. But considering it was such a last-minute call-up to Precote Herberth Motorsport, which I only heard about on Thursday, two podiums are definitely a good result. I am also happy to have been able to support the team in this very close fight for the title."
Alfred Renauer (Precote Herberth Motorsport, Porsche 911 GT3 R), P3: "After having been in contention for a decent finish on a couple of occasions this season, it is good that we've finally made it onto the podium. And of course, the sense of satisfaction is commensurately great! During my stint, I initially came under pressure from Luca [Stolz] in the Mercedes AMG behind us, but as time went by, the gap increased and I was able to settle into a calmer rhythm."
Sebastian Asch (Precote Herberth Motorsport, Porsche 911 GT3 R), P3: "We are obviously mega pleased with today's podium finish. The start was chaotic, but luckily, we got through it without any problems. Our pace was then good. The team did a really great job here today, and we're delighted with what's been achieved. Visibility was problematic today. An extremely dirty windscreen made life especially difficult for me, so I was thankful that it got a good clean during the pit stop. All in all, we're highly delighted with today's result."
Henric Skoog (Schubert Motorsport, BMW M6 GT3), P10, P4 in the Pirelli Junior classification: "I've enjoyed finishing the weekend in the Top Ten but it's tired me out, what with all the rain and poor visibility while having to race no fewer than 30 other cars at the same time. I'm pleased that we managed to end the weekend so well, especially considering the fact that Sheldon and I have never worked together before and were still able to bring home a Top Ten result for the team in such difficult circumstances. Race 1 was intense and action-packed. It may not have been our best race of the year but was nevertheless an important one in terms of experience, with a number of safety car deployments and restarts. I'm mainly here to learn this year so it was a useful experience."
David Jahn (Küs Team75 Bernhard, Porsche 911 GT3 R), DNF: "My start was mega. I was doing really well in the first sector, but then cars began to jockey for position in S2. I drove on the outside of the sweeping Turn 9, because there was nowhere to go on the inside and I didn't want to take my foot off the accelerator. Unfortunately, one of the guys on the inside pushed three others towards me. I was the one who came off worst. I spun into the dirt and could have perhaps continued, but someone ran head-on into me in the very next turn. I spun again and then realised that something was wrong with the steering. What happened out there was totally unnecessary."
