Dries Vanthoor (Team WRT, Audi R8 LMS, P1 overall): "That was a great race for us. I am delighted that Charles and Team WRT have been able to celebrate a victory on their very first race weekend in the ADAC GT Masters. The start was a bit difficult because the Porsche of Sven Müller came charging through from behind. But I got through the first corner well and retained the lead. I then started pushing and built up a gap to take into the driver changeover. Charles did a good job afterwards. Unfortunately, the safety car negated the big advantage, but afterwards, he was able to re-establish it again. We have shown that WRT are one of the best outfits in GT racing. The series is obviously new for the team, but they are all great people, and they've shown that again today."
Charles Weerts (Team WRT, Audi R8 LMS, P1 overall, winner of the Pirelli Junior classification): "Dries handed the car over to me with a nice lead. Unfortunately, the safety car came out and nullified it. That was a bit frustrating. But our car was extremely strong, and after the restart, I was able to pull away a bit. We already had high hopes after our good showing in the tests, but we never expected it to go so well right away."
Luca Stolz (Toksport WRT, Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo, P2 overall): "The race was actually quite unspectacular from my perspective, because there wasn't a lot I could do as regards the leader. So I just concentrated on ensuring second place. It got a bit more difficult again after the safety car deployment, because I had accumulated a lot of pickup."
Maro Engel (Toksport WRT, Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo, P2 overall): "We had a great weekend with yesterday's victory and today's P2. It was the maximum we were going to get. I gave it my best shot, but the Audi was in a different league today. Anyway, huge compliments to the whole team. We had a fantastic test programme and were extremely well prepared. It's great that we now go to our team's home race at the Nürburgring leading the championship."
Robert Renauer (Precote Herberth Motorsport, Porsche 911 GT3 R, P3 overall): "After our appalling luck yesterday, today's race was more like damage control. Many thanks to the team and Porsche for the long stint they put in to repair the car. We really deserved our third place after all that work."
Sven Müller (Precote Herberth Motorsport, Porsche 911 GT3 R, P3 overall): "I put in a great lap in qualifying this morning and booked myself third place on the grid. The car felt great, but it wasn't possible to keep up with the Top Two. At the start, I got past Dries Vanthoor in the slipstream, but going into the first corner, I was on the outside and had to back off. I didn't want to take any risks after yesterday."
Rolf Ineichen (Team WRT, Audi R8 LMS, P7 overall, winner in the Pirelli Trophy classification): "The ADAC GT Masters is a tough field to compete in. Mirko got off to a very good start and gained two places during his stint. Afterwards, I had a hard time finding my rhythm and unfortunately lost those two positions again. I fought all the way to the finish and am happy to have finished seventh."
Jannes Fittje (Küs Team75 Bernhard, Porsche 911 GT3 R, P11 overall 11, P3 in Pirelli Junior class): "I took the car over from David (Jahn) lying in P9. I had a bit of a problem because this was my first time driving the second stint. We'd only practised on the simulator previously, but it's quite different under race conditions. I also struggled a bit with the car and lost two positions. I was able to match the pace of the people in front of me quite well on the restart after the safety car went back in. The Corvette was putting me under tremendous pressure, but I was able to fend off the challenge. All things considered, we are very happy with the weekend. Two finishes in the points is something I could only have dreamed of previously, but now it has come true. It was a great first weekend in GT3 racing for us, and one on which we can build. I still have to do better in qualifying and make sure that I feel more at ease on used tyres during the second stint, so that I become one with the car and am able to go faster."
Simona De Silvestro (Küs Team75 Bernhard, Porsche 911 GT3 R, P16 overall): "Today's race was tougher than yesterday's, but we battled our way through quite well from 21st place. I then realised just how difficult overtaking can be in GT3. We initially lost a position on the pit stop, but Klaus did a really good job afterwards. It's never easy when you have to start from way down the field. I'll have to make a better job of qualifying for the next race and simply learn. Still, the pace is essentially OK."
