ADAC GT Masters·18.9.2020

Comments from the paddock at Hockenheim : Third Friday session of 2020 as seen from a driver perspective

Kelvin van der Linde (Rutronik Racing-Audi R8 LMS): "We were very good right from the start. I was surprised that the basic setup worked so well. We then ticked off a few points on our list, and they worked out well too. Let's see how things go tomorrow in qualifying. It will obviously be significantly cooler then. We have to see how the car and the tyres react. I think we are at our best when it is warm. There is still a bit of a question mark when conditions are cooler."

Sven Müller (Precote Herberth Motorsport-Porsche 911 GT3 R): "All in all, the day went well. We were concentrating on the race setup today and had a good understanding by the end of proceedings. Yesterday was the test day, and our qualifying simulation also went well, so I think that we should be on song for qualifying. Our long runs were much better than expected, although the tyres on the rear axle are coming under a lot of stress and sometimes degrade too quickly for our liking. Hopefully, Robert will get a decent qualifying result tomorrow, and then we'll find out what we're capable of."

Jens Klingmann (MRS GT-Racing-BMW M6 GT3): "A home race is always a special occasion. I always enjoy coming to Hockenheim. I used to come here as a child, and it's where I saw my first professional races. After that, I dreamed of competing here too. The long straights should suit our BMW quite well. We were also the fastest in terms of top speed today. That makes it easier for us to overtake and more difficult for the others to get past us. We are highly motivated and want to get the maximum out of the weekend."

Philipp Frommenwiler (DLV-Team Schütz-Mercedes-AMG GT3): "Unfortunately, our day did not start so well, because we were unable to drive this morning due to a technical problem. Luckily, we were able to fix it in time for the afternoon which then went quite well. We were then able to try out a few things. We're certainly heading in the right direction."

Marvin Dienst (DLV-Team Schütz-Mercedes-AMG GT3): "It's great to be competing in my home race in Hockenheim. Because we weren't able to do much driving today, it's hard to gauge where we stand relative to the others. We still have some work to do before qualifying to get the car set up optimally."

Dorian Boccolacci (Team Zakspeed BKK Mobil Oil-Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo): "The second session went very well, with us being second fastest. But of course we don't know which of the other cars were running on new tyres or how much fuel they had on board. We learned a lot today and know what we still have to change on our car. That’s good. Tomorrow we will see where we really stand."
