ADAC GT Masters·14.8.2020

Comments from the paddock at the Nürburgring: Friday in the Eifel from drivers' viewpoint

Patric Niederhauser (28, CH, Rutronik Racing-Audi R8 LMS): "I'm very satisfied. P1 twice - which makes this a mega Friday for us, most definitely! Up until now, we've hardly ever had a start to a weekend like this. The team worked hard once again after a solid weekend at the Lausitzring. A podium is always nice, but we are in an excellent position. The goal is to win. The ADAC GT Masters is so close. It might perhaps rain all day tomorrow and a lot can happen then. As always, we'll go for the max."

Tim Zimmermann (23, DEU, GRT Grasser Racing Team-Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo): "I'm quite pleased, actually. Practice is designed to help you develop and ensure that you progress. I think we've done that. Of course, there are still one or two small points that we can change. It's just so incredibly close. Still, I'm optimistic about what the future holds. I'm also dying to see what the weather will do, whether it will rain or stay dry."

Klaus Bachler (29, AUT, Küs Team75 Bernhard-Porsche 911 GT3 R): "Our second session was very good. We finally ended up in P2 and gained a lot of experience for tomorrow's qualifying and the rest of the weekend along the way. We will now analyse and evaluate all the data so that we can get the maximum out of tomorrow morning."

Kelvin van der Linde (24, ZA, Rutronik Racing, Audi R8 LMS): "Our car was very strong here last year. The basic setup was fine and we just needed to make some adjustments to the new Pirelli tyres. Patric is in a good mood, and so am I. This weekend should be great. I just love the Nürburgring - especially when you can start at the front, because overtaking is always difficult here, which is why the goal tomorrow is to qualify way up front and to fight for the lead in the race as well. We intend to strike back, you know."

Mick Wishofer (20, AUT, Team Zakspeed BKK Mobil Oil Racing-Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo): "Second and third place, what a great way to start the weekend! Of course, it doesn't mean a deal at this stage, but we're feeling great. The Nürburgring is Zakspeed's home round, so we are all well motivated and keen to produce a great performance. Things have gone pretty well, so far. The goal is a result in the Top Five, or maybe even a podium, but we'll have more idea tomorrow after qualifying."

Jens Klingmann (30, DEU, MRS GT-Racing-BMW M6 GT3): "The most important thing for us today was to sort out the issues after our engine problem at the Lausitzring. We changed a lot of parts, so we did a roll-out to see if the temperatures were okay. We are now well sorted and everything is as it should be. I have a new team-mate, Erik. He's a BMW works driver so should know the car really well. I think we have an excellent line-up. It's really great that we have similar driving styles and want the same things. And so you see, I'm quite confident that we can still make good progress in qualifying tomorrow."

Sven Müller (28, DEU, Precote Herberth Motorsport-Porsche 911 GT3 R): "We struggled to deal with an intermittent electrical problem in the second session. We'll have to take a look at that before tomorrow's qualifying. We're pleased with our outright speed, though. We were ninth in the first practice session and fourth in the second. The car drives well and we feel very confident about tomorrow."
