Comments from the paddock at the Sachsenring: How Friday went from the drivers' perspective as the fourth round got underway

Marvin Dienst (DLV-Team Schütz Motorsport-Mercedes-AMG GT3): "I'm very pleased. We had a lot of problems at Hockenheim. We appear to have fixed them all. It's going really well here. I'm satisfied. The team have totally transformed the car. It's mega now. The Sachsenring is definitely a Mercedes track, but the Audis are fast here too. It's going to be a close fight."

Jeffrey Schmidt (Callaway Competition-Corvette C7 GT3 R): "It's never easy to work out where you stand on Fridays, as all the teams run different tyres. We did a lot of testing and tried various things and I think we're heading in the right direction. It's very important for the whole team to secure some decent results now and again. I'm very confident that we can do it."

Sven Müller (Precote Herberth Motorsport-Porsche 911 GT3 R): "It went quite well. We tried different set-ups. A lot of teams ran fresh tyres towards the end, but we saved ours for the right time. We'll now have to make sure that we produce a good performance in qualifying tomorrow."

Markus Pommer (Callaway Competition Corvette C7 GT3 R): "Today went really well, we did a lot of testing. We didn't race at the Sachsenring last year, and so, had to get accustomed to the track first. We did a lot of work on setup and both of us improved. It's going pretty well, but it's not easy to forecast what tomorrow might bring, because we don't know what tyres teams were running today. Still, I'm feeling pretty good about Saturday."

Philipp Frommenwiler (DLV-Team Schütz Motorsport-Mercedes-AMG GT3): "Our day was quite productive. We had a lot on our plate after Hockenheim. I'm very happy with the car. Of course, it's just free practice today, but we'll soon find out where we're heading now. We won't let up, because it's tomorrow that really counts. We've got a couple of things to modify and then we'll have to see how tomorrow goes."

Max Hofer (Montaplast by Land Motorsport-Audi R8 LMS): "We got testing off to a good start in the morning. We didn't have much driving time in first practice but were able to change that in FP2. We're now fully focused on tomorrow. Qualifying is very important here, so we'll have to get it right. I think we are extremely well placed."

Philip Ellis (Knaus-Team HTP-Winward-Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo): "Today was mega, almost better than expected. Of course, that motivates the whole team. Obviously, you always have to be a little careful where results in practice are concerned, but they show that we're heading in the right direction. Our goal is a place on the top two rows of the grid. However, we'll be driving with fresh tyres for the first time on Saturday morning, so that's a bit of an unknown quantity."

Robert Renauer (Precote Herberth Motorsport-Porsche 911 GT3 R): "I'm not entirely satisfied. We tried a lot of things but will now have to rely on the data to find a decent set-up in order to ensure that things go better tomorrow."

Christopher Haase (Montaplast by Land Motorsport-Audi R8 LMS): "I think we did a good job. We couldn't get in as much driving as we'd hoped in FP1 because of our excursion into the gravel trap, but we didn't let that get us down really. I feel quite upbeat. Our car should be good."
