Comments on Race 1 at Oschersleben: Observations from the paddock after Saturday's race

Michael Ammermüller (SSR Performance, Porsche 911 GT3 R), P1: "We managed to have a perfect race today. We had a brilliant car and had already worked out a good strategy in qualifying. In the race itself, I got away well, was able to defend pole position and pushed hard. Conditions on the track were tricky after the restart, with quite a few of the sections being slippery. I made a successful pit stop and handed over the car to Christian. We can go into tomorrow's race with confidence thanks to our performance today."

Christian Engelhart (SSR Performance, Porsche 911 GT3 R), P1: "Michael did a great job of preparing the way in qualifying and in the opening stint of the race. I even had some clear air behind me when I took over. There were several incidents during the race, and the track was very slippery in a lot of places, so I first had to find the limit over the first few laps, after which I was able to nail down the win at the finish. We can go into the final round, feeling very confident. We are well prepared and have a terrific car. Our chances in tomorrow's race are very good indeed."

Luca Stolz (Toksport WRT, Mercedes-AMG GT3), P2: "With P2, we got the maximum result available to us today. That was definitely an improvement on last weekend at the Lausitzring. Here at Oschersleben, we had more success getting the tyres into their operating window. Our start was good, I was able to keep up with the Porsche in front of us and moved up to second place. After the restart, the track conditions were difficult due to some racing incidents. We are definitely in with a chance of taking the title, but what happens in tomorrow's race is obviously unpredictable. We are in good shape and really have nothing to lose."

Maro Engel (Toksport WRT, Mercedes-AMG GT3), P2: "There were times in the second half of the race when the car didn't exactly feel ideal. The Porsche in front of us had the better pace, so our primary objective was to bring the car safely to the finish and defend our position. In the circumstances, we have to be happy with second place. Anyway, we will continue to fight for the championship, and we will obviously try to improve for tomorrow. Luca [Stolz] had already done a great job in qualifying today. Tomorrow, we will be in full attack mode again, trying to get the best possible result."

Raffaele Marciello (Knaus Team HTP-Winward, Mercedes-AMG GT3), P3: "So far, it has been a difficult season for us; in the past, we have missed out on some great opportunities for good finishes. To have finally made it onto the podium is all the more gratifying for that. The grid position we booked in qualifying was decisive, as it is very difficult to overtake here at Oschersleben. The interruption in the first half of the race reshuffled the cards and made things more difficult, but the car ran well, and it therefore didn't come as too much of a surprise that we eventually found ourselves in line for a podium."

Philip Ellis (Knaus Team HTP-Winward, Mercedes-AMG GT3), P3: "Our race was essentially very good. Raffaele [Marciello] got off to a great start. Afterwards, we more or less drove in convoy - overtaking is almost impossible at Oschersleben. We were then able to time our pit stop well and overtake our direct opponents in the pits. After those first difficult weekends where we couldn't get the tyres into the right operating window, this time we realised our performance potential and delivered a good result."

Ricardo Feller (BWT Mücke Motorsport, Audi R8 LMS), P7 overall and P1 in the Pirelli Junior class: "I am very happy with seventh place and the victory in the Pirelli Junior class. I think I was able to show what I'm capable of in my stint. Overtaking here is not easy, but I put pressure on the Porsches in front of me and they made mistakes which allowed me to get past. It's a marvellous feeling to have won in the Pirelli Junior classification."

Simona De Silvestro (Küs Team75 Bernhard, Porsche 911 GT3 R), P8: "A positive day. Considering the limited amount of free practice we've had, P8 is OK. Klaus did a mega job. When I got into the car, it felt really good. We were pretty fast out there, and that's something we can build on for tomorrow."

Klaus Bachler (Küs Team75 Bernhard, Porsche 911 GT3 R), P8: "The guys really had their work cut out to repair the car, but fortunately we were able to drive it here again. Sadly, Thursday was a wasted day. Still, we are pleased that the work on the car got finished in time. It was extremely quick - in fact, we might have got ourselves onto the front row in qualifying and could maybe have even been contenders for pole. Unfortunately, luck wasn't on our side. After a very strong first sector with the best time of anyone, a Lamborghini impeded my progress. I wanted to keep my distance in order to have the next two laps free, but then the red flags came out, and that was that. Nevertheless, it was good enough to qualify ninth. Overtaking is very difficult at Oschersleben, but with P8, we've posted a respectable result and scored some decent points. The car is fast, so now we will aim to place ourselves further up the starting order in tomorrow's quali so that we can end the season in style."

Maximilian Götz (Mann-Filter Team HTP-Winward Motorsport, Mercedes-AMG GT3) P10: "The car was really good, and I could have gone faster than the two Porsches in front of me, but overtaking is next to impossible here at Oschersleben, and I didn't want to be too heavy-handed. Our only problem was that the tyres picked up a lot of marbles during the two safety car deployments and the warm-up laps before the start and restarts, so we had hardly any grip during the first few laps. Apart from that, it was the same old story at Oschersleben: whoever qualifies up front tends to stay there in the race. So the objective tomorrow morning is to qualify on one of the two front rows."

Jannes Fittje (Küs Team75 Bernhard, Porsche 911 GT3 R), P14 and P3 in Pirelli Junior classification: "I had a bit of bad luck with traffic and my position on track in qualifying, as we had the potential to bring the car home in the Top Ten. Unfortunately, we were unable to exploit it to the full. The yellow and red flag periods didn't help either. Being 18th on the grid at Oschersleben is not easy. I got through the start quite well, though, and handed the car over to David, who did a good job and put in a decent stint. David will drive in tomorrow's quali, and with a bit more luck, we could get into the Top Five. The aim then is to have a good race and score points. My runner-up spot in the Rookie standings is now secure, but we want to go on the offensive again. P1 is not entirely out of reach. We will do our utmost."
