Racing for DLV Schütz Motorsport, Dienst had already caused a sensation earlier by qualifying in pole position. In the race, he retained his lead at the start and handed the Mercedes-AMG GT3 over to team-mate Philipp Frommenwiler with a time cushion of more than five seconds. He then comfortably secured victory. For both Dienst and Frommenwiler, this was their maiden win in the Super Sports Car League. Dienst also won the Pirelli Junior classification for young drivers.
"After experiencing a few problems last time out at Hockenheim and then completely rebuilding the car from top to bottom subsequently, it's obviously terrific to hit back with a win," said Dienst. "The team have had to wait a long time for this victory, so I'm really pleased for everyone in the outfit. We were able to stay in the lead at the start and manage the tyres well in clean air at the head of the field. Our pace was good overall. The goal was to quickly open up a bit of a gap in order to stop our rivals from taking advantage of slipstreaming and to maintain our position on tyres that were quickly degrading, as expected, especially towards the end of the race."
Germany's Tim Zimmermann (GRT Grasser Racing Team) was the runner-up in the Junior stakes. Finishing fourth, he just missed the podium in the overall standings. Austrian Mick Wishofer took P3 in the Junior class, driving the Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo from Zakspeed BKK Mobil Oil Racing.
Filip Salaquarda from the Czech Republic won the Pirelli Trophy classification for the third time this season. At the wheel of Team ISR's Audi, he had been at the head of the timesheets earlier in the qualifying session for amateur drivers and went on to defend his position in the race along with team-mate, Frank Stippler.
