The latest EFP Car Collection by TECE signing is a high-profile name in the sport. Former F1 driver Markus Winkelhock (39, GER) has been recruited to strengthen the team’s challenge in the 2020 ADAC GT Masters. The Audi sports driver will share an Audi R8 LMS with Florian Spengler (32, GER). Elia Erhart (31, GER) and Pierre Kaffer (43, GER) will again drive the sister car. The 14th season of the ADAC GT Masters gets underway at Oschersleben on the weekend of 24th - 26th April. All races will be broadcast live and in full length by free-to-air TV channel SPORT1.
The racing outfit set up by Elia Erhart and Florian Spengler will be contesting its third Super Sports Car League season in 2020. As in last year’s campaign, technical support for the two Audi R8 LMSs will come from Car Collection Motorsport, a service provider with a wealth of experience.
Newcomer Markus Winkelhock is eagerly anticipating the opening race weekend at Oschersleben: “I am really looking forward to my first full season in the ADAC GT Masters with EFP Car Collection by TECE. For me personally, 2020 has already got off to a good start with a podium finish in the 24 Hours of Dubai – hopefully a sign of things to come. In Florian, I have a fast co-driver – he knows the Audi R8 LMS really well. With my experience driving Audis, I’ll be trying to make us even stronger as a pairing. In my opinion, we have put a very good package together – with it, anything is possible.” His future partner Spengler says: “In the past two years we have already managed to make our mark in the ADAC GT Masters. Now we have to be even more consistent. I’m very pleased that, in Markus, Audi Sport customer racing have given me an extremely fast and experienced team-mate. I’m convinced that we can deliver good results in this combination, provided we have our fair share of luck.”
The EFP Car Collection by TECE sister car will be driven by Elia Erhart and Pierre Kaffer who already have one victory to their credit, scored at the Sachsenring in 2018. This will be their third year sharing an Audi R8 LMS. “I can hardly wait for the start of the new season, because we really have a great programme ahead of us in 2020,” says Elia Erhart. “A big thank you goes to all our partners who make this possible in the first place. I believe that we are capable of achieving great things with our package. I am especially looking forward to working with Car Collection Motorsport again, because the team led by Peter Schmidt and Dennis Ferlemann has incredible expertise at its fingertips. We already benefited tremendously from this last year.” Team-mate Pierre Kaffer is also sounding upbeat: “I am incredibly looking forward to this year’s project. We put in a lot of work during the winter, which makes me extremely confident for the season ahead.”
