BMW M GmbH unveiled both the new road-going M4 Coupé and the race version, the M4 GT3. The two prototypes were presented in a camouflage look, developed specifically for this purpose, as their final design will not be revealed until a later date.
For former ADAC GT Masters driver, the Austrian Philip Eng, who drove the BMW M4 GT3, the ride around the Austrian circuit was a welcome foretaste of the year ahead: "I can't wait to get started in the BMW M4 GT3," he told us. "The BMW M4 GT3 will go racing for the first time very soon next year when we will be able to improve its performance in a competitive environment. I already know this car has got what it takes to continue the long and successful tradition of BMW M vehicles in GT customer racing."
A final round of intensive testing is planned before the official world premiere without camouflage in September. After contesting certain races in 2021, the BMW M4 GT3 will finally replace the BMW M6 GT3 as the top model in BMW's customer sport range in 2022. The BMW M6 GT3 has been part of the BMW M Motorsport series of vehicles since 2016 and has taken four pole positions and two victories to date in the ADAC GT Masters. Between them, Schubert Motorsport and MRS GT-Racing are fielding three M6 GT3s in this year's Super Sports Car League (2+1).
