Regular driver Rahel Frey cannot be at the Super Sports Car League’s third race weekend of the season due to a clash of dates with the Le Mans 24-hour classic where she will race a Ferrari in the GTE-AM category. Audi Sport driver Markus Winkelhock will take her place in the cockpit of the Audi R8 LMS.
The 40-year-old ex-Formula 1 driver will share Aust’s #4 Audi with Hendrik von Danwitz. As an Audi Sport driver, Winkelhock knows the R8 LMS inside out. He last competed in the ADAC GT Masters for EFP Car Collection by Tece in August at the Nürburgring.
Team Principal, Frank Aust, was in a confident mood as he told us: „We are delighted to have acquired the services of a very experienced driver for Hockenheim, Markus Winkelhock. He has already tested the car extensively. We have developed our two racing cars even further since last time out and definitely expect to secure top-class results, for sure!“
