Media Group RTL Germany to be new TV home: NITRO will show all future ADAC GT Masters races live in Germany

Media Group RTL Germany has secured the long-term television rights to the ADAC GT Masters, which has now had the additional status of International German GT Championship conferred on it. TV channel NITRO will be broadcasting the ADAC GT Masters races on free-to-air TV in Germany, starting with the first weekend of the 2021 campaign to be hosted at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. As in previous seasons, all races will be shown live and in full length. News channel ntv and the online platforms of the Media Group RTL Germany will provide additional coverage of the Super Sports Car League.

The contract signed by Media Group RTL Germany and the ADAC covers the exclusive live broadcasting rights to the ADAC GT Masters and provides for extensive additional reporting. "The RTL media group probably has the highest level of motorsport expertise to be found in German television," says ADAC Sports President Hermann Tomczyk. "We are therefore delighted that the NITRO channel will be the new TV home of the ADAC GT Masters. Together, we will continue to develop the ADAC GT Masters and elevate it to a new media level. The 2020 series was more competitive than ever before and produced some exceptionally action-packed and entertaining races. The live broadcasts on NITRO and the reports on ntv will attract even more viewers to the ADAC GT Masters."

NITRO head of broadcasting Oliver Schablitzki: "Over the past five years, we have been very successful in establishing the ADAC 24h Race at the Nürburgring as a TV event and have acquired a high level of motorsport expertise in the process. As a channel aimed primarily at a male audience, it therefore makes sense for us to further expand our motorsport offering alongside our football portfolio comprising the Bundesliga and European Cup. We are very pleased to be able to offer the many fans even more spectacular racing from 2021 with our coverage of the ADAC GT Masters, the number one super sports car series."

ADAC Chairman Lars Soutschka: "The ADAC GT Masters will have the added distinction of being the International German GT Championship from next year, and with our new, long-term TV partner NITRO and Media Group RTL Germany, we are now taking the next step in our ongoing development of the series. In recent years, Media Group RTL has thrilled millions of fans with its motorsport broadcasts. We are convinced that the ADAC GT Masters will also be well received by Mediengruppe RTL viewers. We would like to thank our previous partner Sport1 for being such great people to work with over recent years."

The three support series to the ADAC GT Masters - ADAC GT4 Germany, ADAC TCR Germany and ADAC Formula 4 - also form part of the agreement with the RTL media group and will likewise be shown live next year.
