The long wait is finally over. The start of the ADAC GT Masters season is just around the corner. Following the official tests last weekend, Zakspeed BKK Mobil Oil Racing have now announced the name of the last of their four drivers with just one-and-a half weeks to go before the first race gets under way at the Lausitzring. Mick Wishofer, who drove a Mercedes-AMG GT3 for the German outfit in 2019, will again be at the wheel this season. Wishofer made his ADAC GT Masters debut in 2019 after driving for Ralf Schumacher's team in the ADAC Formula 4 in 2018. In his year as a rookie, Wishofer focused mainly on gaining experience in what is probably the toughest GT3 series in the world.
In his second year, the young Austrian intends to put his experience to good use and secure some decent results. Wishofer will share the drive in the Mercedes-AMG GT3 at seven race meetings (14 races in total) with Frenchman Dorian Boccolacci, who is making his ADAC GT Masters debut this year. Team Zakspeed thus still remain fully commited to promoting juniors, giving young talents the opportunity to prove their skills time and again.
It's all in the the mix! Two more experienced drivers will also be driving for Zakspeed in 2020 alongside the two young trainees. As announced earlier in the year, ADAC GT Masters record-breaking race winner, Daniel Keilwitz, and Jimmy Eriksson will share the cockpit of the team's second Zakspeed-Mercedes-AMG GT3.
Team Principal Peter Zakowski: "We are delighted that Mick Wishofer is joining us again, and of course, we're also pleased that the ADAC GT Masters season will finally be starting with the first round next week. During the winter break, which was, unfortunately, longer than expected, we were able to get well prepared for the new season and can hardly wait for the the season to start. Dorian and Mick complement each other really well and we expect to see plenty of exciting scraps on the racetrack."
The ADAC GT Masters season will kick off on the weekend of July 31st to August 2nd, 2020, at the Lausitzring. Both races will start at 1 pm on Saturday and Sunday and be broadcast live on SPORT1.
