After everything was at a standstill for three months due to quarantine restrictions, team boss André Schubert’s racing team has spent the month of July in intensive preparatory work for the new season. The driver squad of Aidan Read, Joel Eriksson, Henric Skoog and Nick Yelloly completed seven days of testing at Zandvoort, the Lausitzring and the Nürburgring as well as a roll-out on the team’s home track at Oschersleben.

Preseason testing for the ADAC GT Masters took place at the Lausitzring on the third weekend in July. This official dress rehearsal for the season opener gave the driver pairings of cars 9 and 10 a first opportunity to get their bearings in the highly competitive racing series. They completed a total of 213 laps on the 3.47km circuit and laid down a marker with consistently fast times.

Yelloly finished the final session of the two-day test as runner-up in the field of 25 GT3 cars. The Briton set the fastest lap of any BMW M6 GT3 in the tests with a time that in this session was bettered only by reigning champions Patric Niederhauser and Kelvin van der Linde of Rutronik Racing. But it was not only the duo of Yelloly and Skoog who were making a big impression at the Lausitzring; Eriksson and Read in the sister car matched them for speed in three of the sessions.

Now that they have completed their preparations, Schubert Motorsport are highly motivated going into the new ADAC GT Masters season. In their first competitive outing on the weekend of 31st July - 2nd August, the team intend to carry forward the momentum of the test drives and lay the foundation for a successful campaign, especially as 2020 marks the 30th anniversary of Schubert Motors. For Yelloly, Skoog and Eriksson, the Lausitzring also represents a milestone in their careers, namely their debut appearance in the Super Sports Car League.

Team principal André Schubert: "I must say, around March we hadn’t imagined our anniversary would have turned out the way it did. The lockdown was an exceptionally difficult time for everyone in motor racing too. So we are all the happier to have got through this period and to be back in action at the Lausitzring. Although we have had only limited time for preparation in July, we feel well and truly ready for our ADAC GT Masters comeback. The drivers and crew have made the most of the opportunities over the past month and have done a great job. We are starting the season on a strong basis, and I am confident that we will fulfil our potential in the season opener. The objective is to avoid making any errors and to continue along the learning curve of the tests. If we are successful in this regard, points finishes for both cars are a realistic target."
