The Bavarian outfit's appetite for success is a long way from being satisfied, despite having won both the drivers' title - thanks to the efforts of Michael Ammermüller and Christian Engelhart - and the team title in the past season. "We will be back to contest the ADAC GT Masters in 2021," confirmed Stefan Schlund, Managing Director of SSR Performance GmbH, in the latest episode of 'PS on Air - Der Ravenol ADAC GT Masters-Talk', which was recorded at SSR's headquarters in Munich and broadcast on the second Sunday in Advent.
However, the composition of their driver squad has not yet been determined. "We have had a great deal of interest and have already had some promising discussions. But nothing has been decided yet. We intend to go into next season with the best possible team. There is also the possibility that we might field two cars." Schlund further revealed that his team will not be availing themselves of the automatic right to the number 1 in 2021: "We plan to stick with the number 92. It has brought us and Porsche a lot of luck."
Following a guest start at Hockenheim in 2019, SSR Performance contested their first full season in the ADAC GT Masters during the past year. And it was an extremely successful campaign: Michael Ammermüller and Christian Engelhart won the drivers' and team titles for SSR Performance at the first attempt. The duo won three races in a season where no other team managed to win more than once. "That was a truly sensational performance from the entire team," said Schlund. "I am proud of our drivers Michael Ammermüller and Christian Engelhart as well as the entire team, which had the ideal captain in the shape of our experienced principal Wolfgang Hatz. Winning the driver and team classifications was the result of hard work."
