Austrian driver Mick Wishofer and his partner Dorian Boccolacci were in 17th place for the start of the third-to-last race of the season, but taking the wheel first, Boccolacci did not let that deter him and moved up into fifth position during his stint. His partner Wishofer rejoined the track in P3 after the pit stop and soon improved to take second place. He found himself in P1 a little later and went on to secure a comfortable first win overall for himself and his team-mate at the finish line.
"The team did a really mega job today," said Wishofer. "Dorian [Boccolacci] got off to a great start, and it was then up to me to bring the race to a good conclusion in the second half. From the position I was in, I was able to overtake the Porsche relatively quickly and then control the race quite well. We were fast yesterday, and the car was very good, but today we really upped our game. Oschersleben will certainly be another challenge for the Mercedes-AMG, but we will obviously do our best again."
Marvin Dienst in the Mercedes-AMG GT3 from DLV Team Schütz Motorsport was the second-best Junior on Sunday while Benjamin Goethe in the WRT Audi secured third place in the Junior class. Goethe, the youngest in the field, started from pole position with partner Frédéric Vervisch but had to serve a drive-through penalty while in the lead during the second stint of the race for breaking rules during the pit stop.
Also in an Audi, Filip Salaquarda took his fifth class win in the Pirelli Trophy classification while fellow Audi driver Elia Erhart (EFP Car Collection by Tece), who has already got the Trophy championship in the bag, came second.
