Yaco Racing: Set to return with two Austrians : Young driver Simon Reicher with Norbert Siedler as experienced newcomer

Yaco Racing are back! After a one-year break, the outfit from the east of Germany is returning to contest this season's ADAC GT Masters and will fly the flag for Austria. The team intend to continue racing the Audi R8 LMS and will have young talent, Simon Reicher (20) plus veteran driver, Norbert Siedler (37) from Austria behind the wheel of their mid-engine sports car. The ADAC GT Masters will get its 14th season under way in Oschersleben on the weekend of 24th-26th April. SPORT1 will broadcast all races live and in full.

Yaco Racing competed in the ADAC GT Masters from 2012 to 2018 and have raced Audis since 2013. The outfit secured two victories with Philip Geipel and Rahel Frey during their time in the Super Sports Car League, and after a one-year break, are now returning to the series as they celebrate their 20th anniversary. The team's R8 LMS will be liveried in the red and white colours of Yaco Racing which will also reflect the fact that they have two Austrian drivers and will be competing under the Austrian flag.

Team Principal, Uwe Geipel, sees this season as a year of learning on the job. "I'm delighted to have Norbert Siedler in our team. He is very fast and experienced and will make an excellent mentor to Simon Reicher. We're aiming to improve Simon's performance step by step and hope that he will be able to demonstrate good progress by the end of the year. If we can achieve that, then we will have accomplished a great deal. Simon has plenty of talent which we want to carefully promote and gently tease out."

Peter Reicher, Simon Reicher's father, is the man behind Yaco Racing's comeback. He too is very enthusiastic about their new signing, Siedler: "He's a well-known driver with a great reputation. We like him a lot as a person. He's a grafter and will use his vast experience to support Simon as he becomes a professional racing driver."

Tyrolean driver, Siedler, is also delighted to be returning to the Super Sports Car League. He last competed in the series in 2018 and won a race at the Red Bull Ring in 2011. Siedler: "It's great to be back racing in the ADAC GT Masters again. I had a meeting with Peter Reicher last December when he told me what he was up to. We immediately hit it off and soon reached an agreement. I'm looking forward to being Simon's mentor and will use my experience to ensure that he develops along the right lines. Yaco Racing are an excellent team and have already been very successful in the ADAC GT Masters. The series will have a very competitive field once again, but our aim is to be top contenders."

His 20-year-old team-mate, Simon Reicher, contested four races in the ADAC GT Masters in 2019 and previously raced in the ADAC TCR Germany. He is really looking forward to his first full season in the series. "I hope we can achieve some decent results, but what I hope for most of all is to learn a lot and become more experienced through working with Norbert," he told us. The young Austrian thinks very highly of his outfit, Yaco Racing: "The team have a lot of know-how and are good where technology is concerned, plus, they are really easy to get on with as people. Things could hardly be better."
