Switzerland’s Ricardo Feller enjoyed a perfect Saturday race at the DEKRA Lausitzring: the Audi driver claimed overall victory, moving to the top of table and taking first place in the Pirelli Junior competition in the process.
Feller had already made a big statement with pole position in qualifying. He converted this perfectly in the race and kept his nose in front at the start. He then proceeded to open up a slight gap ahead of the rest of the field and also set the fastest lap of the race. His Montaplast by Land-Motorsport partner Christopher Mies brought the R8 LMS home in first place after the pit stops..
“That was a perfect day for us,” said Feller. “I am delighted with the result. The pole position was a fantastic start to the day, and we were then able to do a good job of defending the lead in the race. I was able to set a good pace in my stint without putting the tyres under too much strain. Chris brought the car home safely after the pit stop. Sitting on the outside watching the closing stages was far more nerve-racking than being in the car myself. However, I have every faith in Chris and he brought the win home in impressive fashion.”
The second-best junior driver in race seven of this season’s German GT Championship was local favourite Mike David Ortmann, who finished fifth overall to claim his best result of the season so far. Ortmann shared driving duties in the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo with Clemens Schmid. Porsche driver Jannes Fittje was third in the junior competition on his first appearance for Team Joos Sportwagentechnik. He alternated at the wheel of the 911 with David Jahn.
Victory in the Pirelli Trophy competition went to Ortmann’s team-mate at Grasser, Rolf Ineichen. The Swiss and his partner Franck Perera finished eighth overall. After his fourth class victory of the season, Ineichen now trails leader Florian Spengler, who was third at the DEKRA Lausitzring, by 23 points. Second place in the class for non-professionals went to fellow Audi driver Elia Erhart.
