At the first day of pre-season testing for the ADAC GT Masters in Oschersleben, SSR Performance made a perfect start to their mission to defend the title.
The team from Munich, who claimed the drivers’ title and team title in 2020, produced great form to claim second place in the first session of the day. The new driving duo of Michael Ammermüller and Mathieu Jaminet then stepped up a gear in the second session. Porsche works driver Jaminet recorded the very best time of the day on Tuesday, taking the 911 GT3 R round in 1:24.342 minutes.
“We had a good day,” said Jaminet. “The team had already done well here last year. We got the car out of the truck and it all worked right away. We went out on fresh tyres at the end. Of course, it's just a test, but starting the season with a team like this is just great. I am really looking forward to driving in the ADAC GT Masters again. Winning the title in 2018 was a highlight of my career. It is great that I can now battle for the title again.”
The second-best time on the opening day also went to Porsche. Maximilian Hackländer, who shared the #11 car from MRS GT-Racing with Mick Wishofer during testing, finished with a time of 1:24.489 minutes. “I am satisfied,” said Hackländer. “The car is driving well. After spending a few years with Audi, it took me a while to get used to it at first but then I got into the swing of things. We can build on this.”
Previous year’s champion Christian Engelhart and Thomas Preining rounded off the Porsche trio at the top on their maiden appearance in the Küs Team Bernhard. They recorded a best time of 1:24.609 minutes. Fourth place in the daily standings went to Mercedes-AMG. Works driver Maro Engel and Luca Stolz from Toksport WRT claimed this position with the best time from the first session. Their brand team-mates Jules Gounon and Constantin Schöll from Team Zakspeed Mobil Krankenkasse Racing completed the top five.
