Newcomer Dominik Fugel was in Italy to take the Honda NSX GT3 Evo, which he will drive in this year’s ADAC GT Masters, out for its first test laps – and was impressed.
The 24-year-old and the Fugel Sport team, which will run the car in the German GT championship, picked the NSX up from J.A.S. Motorsport in Arluno, Italy. Fugel, who finished third in last year’s ADAC TCR Germany, then headed to Circuito Tazio Nuvalari near Milan to take the Japanese GT sports car for its first spin. “It was indescribable,” said the former ADAC Stiftung Sport driver.
“The car is totally different to the TCR Honda, which I have driven previously. The power of the GT3 is really intense. The conditions were very tough: it had rained and was just five degrees. The circuit is very narrow and the corners are almost all taken in first and second gear. As such, it was only a short roll-out. However, it was enough to give me a first impression. I am already very much looking forward to driving the car in dry conditions and on a real racetrack.”
Having completed its first test laps, the Fugel Sport Honda was loaded onto a truck and transported to the team’s headquarters in Saxony. “The car will arrive today,” says Fugel. “The Mechanics will then completely dismantle it, to get to know it better. We would really like to spend two or three days testing the new car in Southern Europe at the end of February. However, we will have to wait and see how the weather develops and what travel restrictions there are.”
