Young Norwegian Marcus Påverud completes the line-up at Fugel Sport. The team from Chemnitz is making its debut with the Honda NSX Evo in this year’s ADAC GT Masters.
Påverud, a newcomer to the series, will share the mid-engine sports car with Dominik Fugel, who makes the step up from ADAC TCR Germany. The 20-year-old, who is supported by Honda Norway, won the Pro-Am title in the GT4 European Series in 2019 and lined up in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo in 2020. Påverud completed his first laps with the NSX in Italy. “I drove the Honda for the first time in January. It was really cool,” says the Norwegian. “The car is very different to those I had driven previously. It has a lot more downforce and is quite a bit faster. As such, 2021 will be a year of learning – virtually everything is new to me. As far as the circuits are concerned, I am only familiar with the Nürburgring and Hockenheim, where I have done some testing.”
Dominik Fugel is looking forward to teaming up with his new partner: “Marcus impressed JAS, who developed the Honda, during test drives. JAS then got in touch. He is only 20 years old, so we can both start in the Pirelli Junior competition. Our goal is to make it onto the podium now and again.” Fugel Sport is planning to test at the Nürburgring on 31st March and 1st April. “We will be supported there by Mario Farnbacher, who knows the Honda really well from the American IMSA series,” says the 24-year-old. “We are very grateful to him, as well as JAS, Honda and HPD, for the support they have given this exciting project.”
