Küs Team Bernhard adds Joel Eriksson for German GT Championship

Experienced new team member from Sweden set to start at Lausitzring race. Joel Eriksson sharing the cockpit of a Porsche 911 GT3 R with Dylan Pereira. ADAC GT Masters comeback a welcome new challenge for Eriksson.

One and a half weeks before the next two ADAC GT Masters races at the Lausitzring (10th –12th September), the Küs Team Bernhard has added a well-known new face to the line-up: the racing team of two-time Le Mans winner and FIA World Endurance Champion, Timo Bernhard, has acquired the services of Joel Eriksson (23) for the remainder of the 2021 ADAC GT Masters season. The Swedish driver will be sharing one of the two Porsche 911 GT3 Rs competing for the team from Bruchmühlbach-Miesau with Dylan Pereira (24/Luxembourg). The German GT Championship is not uncharted territory for Eriksson: he raced in the ADAC GT Masters with a Schubert BMW in 2020.

“I am thrilled to be back in the GT car. Even more so as I can compete in such a top-class championship like the ADAC GT Masters, driving for such a passionate and successful team as KÜS Team Bernhard,” says Joel Eriksson. “I can hardly wait for the race at the Lausitzring,” he stressed. The Swedish driver, European Formula 3 runner-up in 2017, was most recently in action for Dragon Penske in the Formula E World Championship.

Team principal Timo Bernhard explains: “I am delighted that we have been able to sign up Joel Eriksson, a real high-calibre driver. We got to know one another three years ago at the Race of Champions, where he was competing with Team Sweden. We got on well back then, remained in contact and have been close to working together before. I am so happy that a driver that I hold in such high regard will now be driving one of my cars.” The second Porsche 911 GT3 R from the Küs Team Bernhard in the ADAC GT Masters is driven by defending champion Christian Engelhart (34/Starnberg) and Porsche works driver Thomas Preining (23/A).
