Mercedes-AMG puts its faith in ADAC GT Masters drivers

Mercedes-AMG Motorsport has announced its driver line-up for 2021. New to the squad: Jules Gounon, the 2017 ADAC GT Masters champion.

The Frenchman, who was most recently to be found plying his trade as a works driver at Bentley, is the most prominent newcomer to the Swabian manufacturer’s squad, which also includes a host of other drivers who will be familiar from their time in ADAC GT Masters. As well as Luca Stolz and Maro Engel, who finished third last year, they also include 2012 ADAC GT Masters champion Maximilian Götz and Raffaele Marciello, who were victorious in the final race of 2020 in Oschersleben. Long-term Mercedes-AMG drivers Maximilian Buhk and Thomas Jäger have also won races in ADAC GT Masters.

The German GT Championship will again play a central role in the plans of Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing: Last year, all four customer teams in the series – HTP-Winward Motorsport, DLV Team Schütz Motorsport, Team Zakspeed BKK Mobil Oil Racing, and Toksport WRT – each won races. At the end of the season, no manufacturer had more victories to their name.

Last year’s teams will again put their faith in the Evo version of the Mercedes-AMG GT3, which made its ADAC GT Masters debut last season and claimed its maiden victory first time out at the season-opener at the Lausitzring.
