Entertaining family programme to accompany the German GT Championship. Focus on family experience in various themed areas.
DEKRA and ADAC are working together to present a new event at the DEKRA Lausitzring next year. The Family & Friends Festival 2022, on 20th and 21st August 2022, features an event format for the whole family. The festival combines various themed areas, entertainment, fascinating insights behind the scenes of the DEKRA Technology Center, and two races in the German GT Championship, the ADAC GT Masters. In the run-up to this weekend’s (10th to 12th September) fourth race weekend in the 2021 German GT Championship, DEKRA and ADAC presented the plans for the Family & Friends Festival 2022 in a press conference on Wednesday afternoon.
There will be plenty for visitors to discover at the Family & Friends Festival in August 2022. Various themed areas, focussing on motor, technology, outdoor, wellness and children, ensure there is something for everyone. In the engine area, there will not only be ADAC GT Masters races, with a spectacular field, but also the opportunity to discover different forms of mobility for yourself and to test vehicles from various manufacturers. A children’s world awaits the youngest visitors, who can look forward to plenty of exciting activities. Thrilling entertainment and a range of catering options round off the extensive.
“The Family & Friends Festival, with its fair character focussing on technology and lifestyle, brings together a host of different experiences in a unique combination,” said Uwe Burckhardt, Head of Test and Event at the DEKRA Lausitzring. “Visitors are not only able to enjoy live motorsport, but will be entertained in many different ways over the course of the whole weekend. We would have liked to have launched the festival this year, but had to delay the plans due to the pandemic. As such, we are particularly looking forward to 2022 – the start of an annual series of events.”
“The Family & Friends Festival is a totally new event format. We are looking forward to implementing it alongside our long-term partner DEKRA,” said ADAC Motorsport Director Thomas Voss. “The festival will allow us to approach the whole family – from small to large. The focus is on the experience. We will release more details of the individual highlights of the Family & Friends Family 2022 in the coming months. With our motorsport events, we want to strike out in new directions in the future, position ourselves more broadly, and to inspire new target groups. As a flagship project, the Family & Friends Festival is the first step to developing new event formats.”
