Golden boy
Olympic kayak champion Tom Liebscher visited the fourth race weekend of the German GT Championship as a guest of ADAC GT Masters partner herreausstatter.de. The man from Dresden won his second gold medal just a few weeks ago in Tokyo. The 28-year-old gave the signal to start the engines ahead of Saturday’s race.
Premiere for new fan attractions
Spectators at the Lausitzring were thrilled by two new highlights in the paddock: at a height of almost nine metres, the eBay Tower allows fans to follow the action at the 3.478-kilometre circuit from a totally new perspective. And the new eBay Box has also put a sparkle in the visitors’ eyes: it offers an exclusive insight into the work that goes on in the pit lane and allows fans to watch the action up close and personal. At lunchtime on Sunday, the latest episode of the online show ADAC GT Masters Backstage live from the eBay Box will also be broadcast from here.
New event highlight
On the Wednesday before the race weekend, DEKRA and ADAC held a press conference at the Lausitzring to present the Family & Friends Festival 2022. The new event will be held for the first time on 20th and 21st August 2022 and is aimed at the whole family. The festival offers various themed areas, entertainment and fascinating insights behind the scenes at the DEKRA Technology Center. There will also be plenty of action on the track: the highlights will be two races in the German GT Championship.
Behind the scenes at Zakspeed
The new video of the online show ADAC GT Masters Backstage live from the eBay Box offers an interesting glimpse behind the scenes at the Zakspeed Mobil Krankenkasse Racing team. The eBay team visited the iconic racing outfit at its headquarters in Niederzissen, and accompanied the team during tests at the Lausitzring. The video can be found at https://youtu.be/lVJ6auC9myc.
Fans finally return to the paddock
Spectators are allowed back in the paddock at the Lausitzring, much to the delight of the drivers in the ADAC GT Masters. Fans are taking the opportunity to finally return to the pit lane on a pit walk, during which they can watch the teams preparing the cars and collect the autographs of their favourite drivers.
Generation game
When the Touring Car Classics lines up on the support programme at the Lausitzring, fans can not only look forward to legendary racing cars, but also stars from the golden era of touring car racing. Among them is former DTM star Roland Asch (70/Ammerbuch) at the wheel of a Mercedes 190E 2.5-16 Class 1 from 1993. The crowd favourite met up with his sun Sebastian (35/Ammerbuch), who is driving an Audi R8 LMS for Aust Motorsport in the ADAC GT Masters at the Lausitzring. After a long discussion about their respective race cars, they swapped cockpits for a photo shoot.
For eSports fans
eSports fans are in for a treat at the Lausitzring: no fewer than eight RaceRoom racing simulators are available in the paddock, for those wishing to step into the world of digital motorsport. The simulators are also used in the ADAC GT Masters eSports Championship powered by EnBW mobility+.
