Quotes after race two in Oschersleben

Reactions from the paddock after the Sunday race in Oschersleben.

Winners and well-placed drivers on the second race of the 2021 ADAC GT Masters:

Michael Ammermüller (SSR Performance, Porsche 911 GT3 R, 1st overall): “First the pole position, then the victory and the lead in the championship. After Saturday was not exactly ideal, we turned things around and brought the weekend to a perfect close. Mathieu laid the ideal foundation for the race with the pole position. We were then able to build a solid lead thanks to the switch to slicks. The team produced a very good performance today and I am very confident that we will challenge at the front of the field again at the Red Bull Ring.”

Mathieu Jaminet (SSR Performance, Porsche 911 GT3 R, 1st overall): “After the modest results yesterday, we produced a top qualifying performance and a very good race today. Switching to slicks so early was a risk, but it proved to be the right decision in the end. We are glad to be back in business.”

Nick Yelloly (Schubert Motorsport, BMW M6 GT3, 2nd overall): “Today’s race was very exciting. It was the right decision to switch to slicks, even if it was a bit slippery at first. The team and I are delighted with the good result and hope to perform as well at the Red Bull Ring.” Jesse Krohn (Schubert Motorsport, BMW M6 GT3, 2nd overall): “I was initially a bit surprised that we did not start behind the safety car, given that it was raining so heavily. Despite this, I knew that if we could survive the first few laps then a good result was possible. I am happy with our race.”

Mick Wishofer (MRS GT-Racing, Porsche 911 GT3 R, 3rd overall): “We made good progress this weekend with a car that is still new to the team. The team and Max did a superb job all weekend and we are very happy with the good result. The start in the rain was really challenging, but we coped well in the Porsche.”

Maximilian Hackländer (MRS GT-Racing, Porsche 911 GT3 R, 3rd overall): “The first few laps on the fresh slicks were very difficult at first. However, as the circuit continued to dry out, it was clear to us that we had made the right decision. The Porsche is very good to drive and I am confident ahead of the race at the Red Bull Ring.”

Elia Erhart (Rutronik Racing by Tece, Audi R8 LMS, 19th overall, winner of the Pirelli Trophy competition): “My team-mate Pierre Kaffer got us off to a good start. He did not take any risks, stayed clear of trouble, and handed the car over to me in eleventh place. We stuck with the wet tyres, which turned out to be the wrong choice. I then had to come in again later and switch to slicks. If we had made that switch at the halfway point of the race, we could have done much better. However, we learned a lot and showed potential.”
