Audi driver Ricardo Feller takes overall victory and wins the Pirelli Junior competition on Saturday in Zandvoort.
The Swiss driver had already impressed in qualifying, securing his first pole position in the ADAC GT Masters in an Audi R8 LMS run by Montaplast by Land-Motosport. In the race itself, he defended the lead until he handed over to Christopher Mies. The Audi Sport driver then guided the car home to take a relatively comfortable victory.
“A perfect day with a perfect race,” said Feller, summing up his victorious Saturday. “It all came together: the car was fantastic, the strategy spot on, and Chris did a great job of bringing home the win. I am overjoyed. Three weeks ago I took pole position and then the race win here in another series. I never dreamt that I would do the same again this weekend. To achieve that in the ADAC GT Masters is a mega performance. We have scored extremely valuable points for both the overall standings and the Pirelli Junior competition.”
Joining him on the podium in the junior competition were fellow Audi driver Charles Weerts (Team WRT) in second place and third-placed Igor Waliłko (Team Zakspeed Mobil Krankenkasse Racing) in a Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo.
Victory in the Pirelli Trophy also went to Audi. Here, it was Florian Spengler (Car Collection Motorsport) who emerged triumphant for the second time this season. He and team-mate Markus Winkelhock finished eleventh overall, narrowly missing out on a top-ten result. Spengler crossed the finish line just 1.2 seconds behind the seventh-placed car.
“The good start allowed me to make up a few positions early on, and put me in a position to keep attacking,” said Spengler. “In my stint, however, whenever I caught the cars in front of me and I was about to launch an attack, the safety car unfortunately decided to make an appearance. On the whole, I am still happy with eleventh. We are confident ahead of tomorrow.”
