Racing team to run two Porsche 911 GT3 R in the German GT Championship. Robert Renauer and Sven Müller to share a car again. New to the team: Klaus Bachler and Simona De Silvestro.
A familiar driving duo and two newcomers: Precote Herberth Motorsport goes into the 2021 title race with a new-look squad in the ADAC GT Masters. While former champion Robert Renauer (35/Vierkirchen) again lines up alongside Sven Müller (29/Bingen am Rhein), Klaus Bachler (29/A) and Porsche works driver Simona De Silvestro (32/CH) will share the driving duties in the team’s second 911 GT3 R for the first time. The driver line-up for the German GT Championship was revealed on Sunday in the latest episode of PS on Air – The Ravenol ADAC GT Masters Talk. Motorsport Arena Oschersleben hosts the opening round of this season’s ADAC GT Masters from 14th to 16th May. Free-to-air TV station NITRO will broadcast all 14 of the season’s races live and in full.
“Our year has begun well, and we obviously want to continue in this vein,” says team principal Alfred Renauer, whose outfit secured a starting place at the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the first time, courtesy of its title win in the Asian Le Mans Series at the start of March. “With this squad, we have two promising duos, who can challenge for race wins and podiums in the ADAC GT Masters. That gives us a good basis, on which to fight for the title in the Team competition.”
After 2017 and 2020, this is now the third season together in ADAC GT Masters for Robert Renauer and Sven Müller. Last year, they were victorious together at the Nürburgring, and Renauer was in contention for a second ADAC GT Masters title right down to the final race. “I feel right at home in this team. It is like a family to me,” says Müller.
Sharing the wheel of the second 911 belonging to the team from the Upper Bavarian town of Jedenhofen will be Klaus Bachler and Porsche works driver Simona De Silvestro. The duo lined up together in a Porsche in 2020, but for Küs Team75 Bernhard. “I am looking forward to my new role at Precote Herberth Motorsport,” says Bachler. “I already know the team from an outing at the Lausitzring in the 2020 ADAC GT Masters, and from starts in other racing series. Simona and I were frequently fast last year, but often lacked that little bit of luck you need. Our goal is to consistently get good results. That is important if you want to be among the front-runners in the championship.”
Precote Herberth Motorsport is one of the longest serving teams in the ADAC GT Masters. Since 2009, the team has amassed seven race wins and eight pole positions. It also won the Drivers’ Championship with Robert Renauer and Mathieu Jaminet in 2018.
