ADAC GT Masters·7.11.2021

Sustainable, family-oriented, and a bigger prize purse: The ADAC GT Masters will be even more attractive in 2022

Environmentally-friendly fuels to be used from 2022. Prize purse for the 2022 season increased to € 600,000. Tickets for next season available now.

The ADAC GT Masters will be even more attractive for participants and fans next year: With a new concept to achieve greater sustainability, the series will take on a pioneering role, competitors will benefit from more prize money, and attractive ticket deals will make a family trip to the ADAC GT Masters all the more appealing. As the final round of the 2021 German GT Championship played out at the Nürburgring on Sunday, the ADAC presented its plans for the coming season, which kicks off from 22nd to 24th April at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. RTL Deutschland will again broadcast all the races live and in full on free-to-air station NITRO. Anyone wishing to watch the series at the racetrack can order tickets for all the races online now at adac.de/motorsport, with special deals available to those purchasing tickets by 31st December.

As of 2022, the ADAC GT masters and the other ADAC series on the motorsport platform will use environmentally-friendly fuels. Alongside the initiative to avoid plastic waste at the racetrack, which was launched together with BWT this spring, the use of fuels that significantly reduce exhaust emissions from the race cars is another step in a concept to achieve greater sustainability in motorsport. The ADAC will present details of the multi-level concept at the Essen Motor Show at the end of the month.

“Motorsport has a big chance to take on a pioneering role in sustainability. Opportunities are arising for the sport to demonstrate its relevance for series production, particularly when it comes to fuels. As part of a multi-stage plan, we will be one of the first racing series in the world to introduce environmentally-friendly fuels next year and will continue to follow this approach,” said ADAC Sport President Dr. Gerd Ennser. More prize money next year will also make the series even more attractive for teams and drivers. In the 2022 season, the drivers and teams will be competing for a total prize purse of € 600,000 in money and non-cash prizes.

Furthermore, the events will be made even more family-friendly: Admission will be free for children and youth aged 16 and under when accompanied by an adult. Tickets for the 2022 races are available online now at adac.de/motorsport. Those quick enough to order tickets by 31st December will benefit from attractive discounts. Tickets for the Family & Friends Festival at the DEKRA Lausitzring from 19th to 21st August are also available online now. Tickets for the summer’s family highlight, arranged by DEKRA and the ADAC and featuring an attractive mix of sport and entertainment in seven different themed areas, start at just € 5.

“The ADAC GT Masters is a motorsport event for the whole family. Next year, we want to give families new incentives to visit events. One highlight, and a new flagship event next August, will be the new Family & Friends Festival, together with our partner DEKRA,” said ADAC Member of the Board Lars Soutschka.

Teams can register online for the 2022 ADAC GT Masters from 27th November. Next year’s calendar consists of seven events, with the official pre-season test taking place at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben from 4th to 6th April. ADAC GT4 Germany, ADAC TCR Germany and the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany are the regular support series and will each share the bill at six events. The support programme will be enhanced by the talented youngsters in ADAC Formula 4 at three race weekends.
